Transfer news, rumours LIVE - Harry Maguire to sign new contract to fend off Manchester United, Paul Pogba update, Arsenal have wage issues, latest gossip

The Premier League transfer window may be shut but there’s still plenty to follow as European clubs look to finalise their plans this summer, while the deadline day fallout continues to be revealed with the details on every move that did and didn’t happen leaking out.

Everton and Fulham got their cheque books out to dominate the headlines, with the Toffees landing Fc Barcelona duo Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes, as well as Shakhtar Donetsk forward Bernard. They could yet sign Kurt Zouma from Chelsea on loan, with confirmation yet to come on the late, late talks. Fulham meanwhile broke their transfer record with the signing of Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa for around £30m, while Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Luciano Vietto, Sergio Rico and Joe Bryan also moved to Craven Cottage.

Then there’s Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, who failed to sign anyone on deadline day – the latter becoming the first club not to sign a player in the summer at all since the transfer window was introduced – and we’ll bring you the latest fallout from the disappointing windows.

With the European transfer window still open, we will have all the latest news, late done deals plus all the latest reaction right here so don't touch that dial.

Marseille are showing interest in Arsenalmidfielder Mohamed Elneny, according to The Daily Mirror.

The additions of Uruguay's Lucas Torreira and Frenchman Mattéo Guendouzi have seen competition for places in the Gunners' midfield increase, despite the departure of Jack Wilshere to West Ham.

The 26-year-old Egyptian, who was an unused substitute in Arsenal's opening-game loss to champions Manchester City, may follow Wilshere out of the Emirates, even though he signed a new four-year contract at Arsenal as recently as March.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot has alerted a number of clubs across the Premier League to his availability after rejecting the club's latest contract offer in the hope of forcing through a move away.

One club who has expressed an interest in Rabiot in the past is Arsenal, and with manager Unai Emery working with Rabiot last season at PSG, the Spanish manager could well launch a move to bring the defensive midfielder to the Emirates.

However, Liverpool have now emerged as an interested party, and are looking press on with an offer in January tat would see Rabiot move to Anfield on a free transfer next summer.

But his future remains uncertain with the England international yet to accept a new contract offer from City, leading to suggestions that he could leave the club in the not-so-distant future.

But Pep Guardiola spoke following the win at the Emirates to stress just how "loved" Sterling is at City in the hope of him committing his long-term future to the club.

Real Madrid's move for former Chelseagoalkeeper Thibaut Courtois last week appears to have had an after-effect on Manchester United, as the club are now ready to press on with contract talks to tie down goalkeeperDavid de Gea.

The Spaniard is into the final year of his contract - albeit United have a one-year extension that they would almost certainly trigger - and with Madrid's interest now non-existent following the signing of Belgian No 1 Courtois, United are poised to secure De Gea's long-term future.

Matteo Darmian is still set to leave Manchester United this summer, with a return to Italy almost certainly on the cards.

The right-back has fallen out-of-favour with Jose Mourinho after he signed Diogo Dalot to compete with Antonio Valencia in defence, and United will not block a potential exit before the 31 August transfer deadline.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Serie A sides JuventusNapoli and Inter Milanare all keen on the Italy international.

The Italian league have also voted to close their transfer window before the season gets underway on Saturday, and The Sun claims that Napoli are plotting a permanent move for the 30-year-old Belgian goalkeeper, who has fallen down to third in the pecking order at Anfield after the arrival of Alisson in the summer.

MANCHESTER CITY NEWS

CHELSEA NEWS
08:15
It's also claimed in the same report from Sky Sports that Schalke are also keen on Ruben Loftus-Cheek should the chance arise that he can leave Chelsea on a permanent deal.

The young England midfielder has been starved of first-team football at Stamford Bridge and it is not yet known if he will feature in Maurizio Sarri's plans, with the Italian starting Ross Barkley ahead of him in their opening Premier League match last weekend.

Loftus-Cheek was said to be considering a loan move away if he is not given any football this month, but again Schalke will only look at a permanent move.

German side Schalke are keen on signing Tottenham defender Danny Rose - but only on a permanent deal.

Sky Sports claims that the Bundesliga club are interested in the England defender, who could be on his way out of White Hart Lane in a dispute that stems from his criticism of the club's wage structure last year.

It's understood that Spurs were open to selling Rose during the summer transfer window should the right offer come in after Bradley Davies excelled in his position last season.

Barcelona director Ariedo Braida has played down the chances of the Spanish club signing Paul Pogba from Manchester United before the end of the European transfer window, but the club remain interested in signing the Frenchman in the near-future.

Pogba's happiness at Old Trafford has come under scrutiny once again after he admitted last weekend that he cannot speak the truth about how he feels because he will get fined by the club.

It's understood that Pogba would like to leave and move to Barcelona, but despite toying with an offer that would leave United with a difficult decision to make, Braida has admitted that Barca are unlikely to make that bid this summer.

ARSENAL NEWS

Arsenal may have shown a different side to their transfer policy in recent years by splashing the cash, but it seems those days may already be over.

The Telegraph claims that due to a flurry of new signings and contract extensions, Arsenal manager Unai Emery will have to operate under a severely restricted wage budget in the January transfer window, meaning that new arrivals are almost certainly out of the question unless more players leave the club.

The arrivals of Bernd Leno, Sokratis, Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira and Stefan Lichtsteiner in the summer has wiped out the gap created by the departures of Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Lucas Perez, while new deals for Granit Xhaka and Ainsley Maitland-Niles - plus the whopping £275,000-a-week contract given to Mesut Özil - leaves Arsenal with little room to add to the squad.

There's also the issue of Aaron Ramsey's future to contend with, as the Welshman's current deal expires at the end of the season with no signs of renewal yet.

LEICESTER NEWS
07:18
England international Harry Maguire is close to signing a new contract with Leicester City, just a season after joining the club, in an effort to fend off interest from Manchester United.

The centre-back was high on United's priority list during the summer but the club were scared off by Leicester's £75m valuation of Maguire, who joined the club from Hull last summer for less than a quarter of that price.

The Telegraph reports that having remained with Leicester following United's dud deadline day, Maguire will now sign a new deal increasing his wages to £75,000-a-week.
