Transfer news - live updates: Manchester United could lose Paul Pogba, Chelsea want possible Arsenal captain plus latest from Liverpool and Spurs

The Premier League’s summer transfer window is open with Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal set to be busier than ever.

Liverpool enjoyed success in the Champions League this year and their quest to end their league title drought in 2019 will be bolstered by the arrival of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig. He will not be the last new face on Merseyside, however, with Monaco's Fabinho already in. Roma's Alisson is next and could Lyon's Nabil Fekir follow? At United Jose Mourinho looks set to spend big again as he targets reinforcements in his bid to haul in record-breaking Manchester City next season. He's got Fred but another central midfield player is high on his list with a big money move for Real Madrid's Gareth Bale not out the question.

For the first time in over two decades Arsenal head into the offseason with a new manager at the helm. That man is former PSG boss Unai Emery after a stunning 11th hour change of heart at the Emirates and he already has four new signings and plenty more on the way with more on his shopping list. Chelsea have a new manager themselves after appointing Maurizio Sarri with the future of Eden Hazard high on his agenda but across London Mauricio Pochettino won't be leaving Tottenham Hotspur after signing a new five-year deal.

We will have all the latest news, views, rumours, gossip and done deals right here so don't touch that dial.

Unai Emery has offered an insight into how he plans to use Mesut Ozil this season.

The German put a tumultuous week behind him by scoring the opener as Arsenal routed a makeshift PSG to end their pre-season tour of the Far East on a winning note.

Ozil, who called time on his career with the national team last weekend, was deployed further forward than you might normally expect and was integral as the Gunners put the French champions to the sword.

And Emery, who took over from Arsene Wenger earlier this offseason, is keen to make the most of the 29-year-old and get the best out of his undoubted talents.

Gary Rowett has dismissed speculation linking England goalkeeper Jack Butland with a summer move.

Butland reported for pre-season training on Friday after being given extended leave by Stoke city this summer.

Butland was part of the England squad which reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia and has been heavily linked with Chelsea this summer.

WOLVES NEWS
13:20

Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in Manchester United’s Marcos Rojo, as the newly-promoted side bid to push on with their lavish summer spending.

While the Argentine has been one of Jose Mourinho’s more trusted centre-halves, his injury record has seen him play less than the manager would have liked over the past two years, and the club does need to sell to facilitate moves elsewhere.

Mourinho has long wanted to discard up to six players in his squad for a more efficient set-up, and is said by sources to have been almost more frustrated with that than the lack of purchases.

Wolves have meanwhile had one of the more eye-catching windows in the Premier League, bringing in signings such as Joao Moutinho from Monaco, and the signing of a defender like Rojo would represent another upgrade in quality.

MANCHESTER UNITED NEWS

Chelsea may have to fight off Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich if they want to turn their interest in Anthony Martial into a successful bid, Sky Sports News reports.

All three clubs are said to fancy their chances of landing Manchester United's France forward, 22, who has a year left on his contract.

The broadcaster says it understands Martial has told Jose Mourinho he wants to leave Old Trafford, although the club's top brass think otherwise.

Martial's contract is said to have an option to keep him at the club until 2020 and Chelsea are yet to make a formal offer.

Newcastle have agreed a deal with Mainz to sign Japan forward Yoshinori Muto and have tied up personal terms.

The Premier League club said the deal is now subject to approval, with 26-year-old Muto needing a work permit.

The Football Association is set to hear his case to determine whether it considers Muto, who has not been a fixture in Japan's team recently, should be granted permission to join Newcastle.

Toby Alderweireld is still Jose Mourinho’s first choice for a Manchester United centre-half this summer, with the expectation now that the pursuit will go right to the end of the transfer window.

A deal so far has not happened due to the fact Tottenham Hotspurwould prefer Anthony Martial included in any negotiation, or for United to at the very least meet a hardline valuation of £55m.

The Old Trafford hierarchy have so far been reluctant to do either, with some of that influenced by Alderweireld’s desire to leave and an expectation that might yet change the situation or force Spurs’ hands.

LIVERPOOL NEWS
12:00

Jurgen Klopp has once again defended Liverpool's transfer spending and reveals he turned down a move for Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak over the prohibitive price tag.

The Reds boss instead chose to break the world transfer record for a goalkeeper with a £67m deal for Brazilian international Alissonas part of a summer spending spree that has seen four new faces arrive at Anfield.

Klopp believes the world-record fee was a necessity in a small market place and said there were even more costly options out there.

BOURNEMOUTH NEWS
11:40
Newcastle winger Matt Ritchie could reportedly be in line for a return to Bournemouth.

The 28-year-old, who joined the Magpies two years ago, could form part of a deal for striker Josh KingThe Sun reports.

Rafa Benitez wants King, but Newcastle want to pay less, meaning Ritchie could be used as a makeweight, the paper says.

Chelsea are monitoring the situation of Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, with a view to a bid if any rival clubs make a move, as there is now a belief by those close to the player that the Serbian international would favour a switch to Stamford Bridge.

The 23-year-old’s fine performances in the World Cup continued a spell where he has caught the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, especially Manchester United and Real Madrid.

United had seemed set to conclude a deal before the tournament in Russia, only for both the complications of his Lazio contract and price to put them off.

Such issues have also so far prevented Chelsea making a move, but Milinkovic-Savic is seen as someone who could potentially be a focal point of a top side in the mould of Eden Hazard.

MANCHESTER UNITED NEWS
11:10
Jose Mourinho has admitted he wants two more players this summer but only expects Manchester United to pull through on one – if he’s lucky.

The Portuguese revealed he had wanted five new signings this summer and, after the arrivals of third-choice goalkeeper Lee Grant, back-up right-back Diogo Dalot and midfielder Fred, there are two more to go.

"I would like two more players. I don't think I'm going to have two," he said. "I think it's possible I'm going to have one.

"I gave my club a list of five names a few months ago. I wait to see if it's possible to have one of these players."

Jack Grealish will make it clear to Aston Villa's owners that he wants to pursue his dreams of Champions League football and join Tottenham, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Spurs are said to be ready to make an offer for the 22-year-old attacking midfielder as soon as this week.

After a reported £55million takeover by Egyptian billionaire Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens eased Villa's financial concerns the club will be less inclined to sell their talisman.

However ambitious Grealish is said to want out and Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly determined to sign him this summer.

New boss Maurizio Sarri is keeping tabs on Serie A, the paper adds, with sources in Italy suggesting officials will be meeting with Higuain's representatives this week.

The paper adds that reports in Italy also suggest the club are closing in on another Juventus player, defender Daniele Rugani.

MANCHESTER CITY NEWS
10:21
Raheem Sterling's calculation that a blinding World Cup would bolster his position in contract talks with Manchester Cityappears to have backfired, the Daily Mirror reports.

The England star is said to have been seeking improved personal terms to his £170,000-a-week deal, although he delayed talks until after his return from Russia.

While the Three Lions' campaign won plaudits, Sterling's value is said to have remained relatively constant and attention from big international clubs has not been forthcoming.

His contract with City is up in 2020, although he will have to sign an extension before next summer, the paper says.

CRYSTAL PALACE NEWS
09:40
Tottenham are said to have joined the race for Crystal Palace's £60million-rated Wilfried Zaha.

The Ivorian was reported to be at the top of new Everton boss Marco Silva's target list.

According to the Daily Mirror, Spurs are now also plotting a swoop.

The rival part-exchange bids could see spurs offer Moussa Sissoko in a swap, while Everton could put Yannick Bolasieon the table, the paper says.

Meanwhile, The Sun claims Ivory coast star Zaha, 25, wants to leave Selhurst Park - although bosses could hold out for up to £70million.

ARSENAL NEWS

Aaron Ramsey could be named Arsenal’s new captain for the new season under the leadership of Unai Emery but with one year left on his existing deal and no new contract agreed as of yet, Chelsea are looking to sneak in and snatch him from their London rivals.

The Mail on Sunday, believe the Blues will launch a £30m move for the Wales international despite Emery’s insistence that Ramsey will stay.

MANCHESTER UNITED NEWS
09:28
Juventus believe Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is open to returning to Turin this summer after a tumultuous time under Jose Mourinho, according to the Sunday Mirror.

However, having splurged nearly £100m on Cristiano Ronaldo already this summer, to buy Pogba – who would likely cost even more than the Portuguese – Juve would have to sell players.

They are willing to offload Gonzalo Higuain, Miralem Pjanic, Daniele Rugani and Mattia Caldara to sign finance the signing.

LIVERPOOL NEWS
09:20
Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas have made an approach to Liverpool for goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

It is understood talks have begun between the two clubs about the Belgium international, whose future at Anfield was in doubt even before the Reds made Alisson the world's most expensive goalkeeper earlier this month.

Mignolet fell down the pecking order at Liverpool last season, losing his place to Loris Karius whose two errors in the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid led to manager Jurgen Klopp spending £65million to bring Roma's Brazil international to the club.

09:00
Chelsea have apparently told Real Madrid they will not be bullied into selling Eden Hazard.

The Spanish giants are keen on the Belgian international and could be part with as much as £170m.

But the Blues are holding firm for now according to the Mirror.

MANCHESTER UNITED NEWS
08:40
Manchester United are now considering alternatives to Willian, with Croatia’s World Cup star Ante Rebic the latest name to attract his attention.

The Portuguese is determined to bring in the type of wide player he feels is essential to his system this summer and, although Willian has long been his primary target from their time together at Chelsea, the difficulty of a deal has led to United looking at other targets.

It’s just that, continuing what has already been a frustrating summer, there are similar complications with other options.
