Transfer news LIVE: Messi's future in doubt at Barcelona, Arsenal close on deals, Liverpool won't pay Thiago fee, Man United maintain Sancho talks

Lionel Messi could pursue a move away from Barcelona if Josep Bartomeu is not replaced at president (Picture: PA)

Follow the latest updates live from the summer transfer window as Premier League clubs look to strengthen ahead of the new season, which gets under way in a little over three weeks’ time. Lionel Messi’s future looked a step closer to being resolved following the imminent appointment of Ronald Koeman as Barcelona manager, with club president Josep Bartomeu claiming the Argentine will be a ‘pillar’ of their new project. The 33-year-old has grown unhappy at the Nou Camp and Manchester City are interested in signing him, though Barca are reluctant to sell.

Arsenal have agreed a £22m deal for Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes, though continue to sweat on whether the Brazilian will move to the Emirates due to interest from Napoli. The 22-year-old is set to make his decision in the coming days, though the Gunners are growing confident of completing a move. So too are Chelsea, who are expected to agree a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz ‘within the next 10 days’.

Manchester United continue their pursuit to sign Jadon Sancho this summer, but one player whose future is still not resolved is Paul Pogba. The midfielder remains a target of Juventus, who may be willing to offer Paulo Dybala to the Premier League club in an effort to lure Pogba back to Turin. Follow the live updates below.

Here's an...interesting....one!
Fulham want to announce themselves as back in the big time with a signing from Barcelona, no less.
In fact it's defensive veteran Gerard Pique who they see as the ideal signing, according to news out of South America, for some reason. One to watch...maybe.
West Brom are keen on a double swoop of Brentford players, reports Sky Sports.
The newly promoted outfit want Ollie Watkins and Rico Henry to boost their chances next term, but Aston Villa and Palace are also known admirers.
The forward is rated at at least £25 million.
Antonio Conte is addicted to Premier League players, that's official.
Gazzetta report that he wants three more this summer to join his Inter Milan squad: N'Golo Kante and Emerson Palmieri from Chelsea, plus Chris Smalling from Manchester United.
The two blues have already been heavily linked with a move and the left-wing back is known to be available for a move, but it would be a big call for Frank Lampard to let Kante leave, despite recent injuries.
As for Smalling, a good loan spell with Roma has significantly raised his stock, but he likely has no future as a first-choice defender for Man United.
More Arsenal news now: Mohamed Elneny is on his way back to the club after a loan spell with Besiktas, but it might not be for long.
The Evening Standard say Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce are keen to take him back to the Super Lig.
He still has two years left on his contract with the Gunners.

Napoli's inability to sell Kalidou Koulibaly quickly this summer is having a knock-on effect: they will miss out on the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes.
According to journalists in Italy, the Lille centre-back wants his future sorted quickly, leaving Arsenal in an improbably strong position all of a sudden.
They feel increasingly optimistic he will agree to a five-year deal with them, becoming a potential third essentially-new option for Mikel Arteta next term, along with William Saliba returning from loan and Pablo Mari making his loan permanent.

Completed deal! Bigger one in the European environment here: Borussia Dortmund have sealed a two-year loan for young Brazilian forward Reinier.
He arrives from Real Madrid, with no option to buy confirmed by BVB in announcing the loan.
Reinier has yet to play for his new Spanish side, after joining in January 2020.
Everton's search for a new right-back continues, after Djibril Sidibe's loan spell came to an end.
They still have Seamus Coleman and Jonjoe Kenny, the latter back from a loan of his own with Schalke, but the suggestion is Carlo Ancelotti wants a new challenger.
Alessandro Florenzi is the man he's keen on, says Sky Sport Italia, with the winger-turned-full-back now back at Roma after he spent part of last term with Valencia.

Southampton are targetting Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie for a £22m move this summer.
German outlet Bild say Saints want him to replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has moved on to Spurs this summer.
Done deal. One for the future, but already with senior game time.
Aston Villa have signed Ben Chrisene from Exeter City, a 16-year-old who will go into the Villa Academy system, report BBC Sport.
He debuted at 15 and played five times at senior level for Exeter, being the club's youngest-ever debutant.
Liverpool are back in pre-season training but Xherdan Shaqiri might not be there long according to some rumours.
Boss Jurgen Klopp is willing to sell him at "an affordable price", with Lazio among the teams interested according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.
Director of Football Igli Tare is said to be a keen admirer of Shaqiri's, though it's not immediately clear where the winger will fit into Lazio's 3-5-2 system.

Jeff Hendrick is having a medical with Newcastle United.
Various outlets are now reporting the progress of that deal, after the midfielder left Burnley on a free transfer earlier this summer.
The Irish international was briefly linked with the likes of AC Milan but appears to be headed to the north east.
Good news for Leeds United supporters is on the way by the looks of things.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio says the club have reached a "total agreement" to extend the contract of manager Marcelo Bielsa for another year.
His present deal expired this summer, so assuming he signs, he'll lead the Elland Road club back in the top flight.
Karim Benzema remains the first-choice No. 9 at Real Madrid, but the Spanish club are planning for life beyond the Frenchman.
Reports out of France now say they've identified his successor: Inter Milan's free-scoring Belgian Romelu Lukaku.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a 33-goal season so far, firing his side to the Europa League final and a second-place finish in Serie A.

Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu says the club did try to sign Neymar last summer - but it's impossible as PSG don't want to sell him.
"Going for a player when the club he is in doesn’t want to sell him is impossible," he said to Barca TV.
The Catalan outfit are more likely to be considering outgoings than new signings this summer, with a financial shortfall to make up.
Aston Villa are reportedly confident of hanging onto Douglas Luiz, despite the midfielder being linked to his old club Manchester City.

Luiz, who spent his two years as a City player on loan at Girona, moved to Villa in 2019, and with Dean Smith's side having just about secured Premier League survival last season, they believe they can retain the Brazilian's services – that's per the Express.
Just two years after leaving the Serie A side, could Felipe Anderson be about to return to Lazio?

The winger joined West Ham in 2018 and has shown flashes of brilliance for the east London club, but he has struggled to fully adapt to how physical the Premier League can be during the Hammers' recent relegation battles.

Lazio were keen on signing David Silva after the midfielder departed Man City this month, but the Spaniard joined La Liga team Real Sociedad instead, so the Italian outfit are looking elsewhere, according to the Daily Star.
Wilfried Zaha is determined to leave Crystal Palace this summer with aspirations to play in the Champions League - and it seems he is not short of interested parties.

Sky Sports reports that the Ivory Coast international is wanted by Borussia DortmundParis Saint-Germain and Monaco this summer, with all three having the funds to prise him away from Selhurst Park.

Arsenal attempted to buy Zaha last summer along with Everton, but could not meet Palace's £80m valuation - a fee that Zaha felt priced him out of a move in the transfer market.

But the club are more resigned to losing Zaha this summer, and will allow him to leave if a club comes calling with the right transfer fee.
Those two famous Spanish words have been announced: Comunicado Oficial

Real Madrid have confirmed that 18-year-old attacking midfielder Reinier Jesus will join Borussia Dortmund on a two-year loan period, which the Bundesliga club have also announced.

The Brazilian has been part of the Madrid's 'Castilla' B team since joining from Flamengo earlier this year, and he will spend the 2020/21 and 2021/22 campaign with Dortmund - who are not exactly shy of blooding young emerging talents.
Manchester City have reignited their interest in Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, and will rival Premier League opponents Chelsea for the 29-year-old.

Koulibaly has long been rated as one of the best centre-backs in Europe, but Napoli have done well to fend off competition from other clubs who have been interested in his services over the years.

But with the club missing out on European football this season, a move away looks to be in the pipeline, and Italian outlet La Repubblica reports that City have renewed their efforts to sign the Senegal defender.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Koulibaly, and a bidding war could develop if both clubs continue to press on with their interest.

United are also understood to be monitoring Juventus winger Douglas Costa, while West Ham could see Lazio come in for Felipe Anderson, who faces an uncertain future at the London Stadium as David Moyes weighs up a squad revamp.
