Follow the latest updates live from the transfer window as we bring you the latest news, rumours and done deals throughout the summer. Manchester United’s squad revamp continues at haste with moves for Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes moving swiftly, but the future of Paul Pogba is once again up for debate after manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed the latest on where the midfielder fits into his plans.

Arsenal are closing in on their second signing of the summer with reports in Spain suggesting a move for Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos is imminent, while the Gunners remain young defender William Saliba’s first-choice even though St Etienne would prefer him to join north London rivals Tottenham.

Arsenal are also being linked with a move for Gremio’s Brazil international forward Everton Soares, while Spurs could see a key player leave in the form of Danny Rose after the left-back was left out of Mauricio Pochettino’s pre-season squad with a view to being sold this summer. Follow the live news below.

Welcome to The Independent's transfer live blog, where we'll bring you the latest news, rumours and done deals throughout the summer transfer window as the new Premier League season ticks ever closer.

With plenty of updates to bring you surrounding the likes of Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire and Danny Rose, let's not waste any time in getting underway.
We start the morning off with the latest on Paul Pogba's Manchester United future.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has gone on the charm offensive with the France midfielder, stressing that he can build his squad around the 26-year-old.

And in his latest comments from the club's pre-season tour of Australia, Solskjaer has reiterated where he sees Pogba in his future.

"Paul is a fantastic player, a fantastic human being and has always been a great professional," Solskjaer told reporters in Perth.

"I said (previously), 'if he's in your squad, you'd build your team around him'... I haven't changed that much since then, so I'd say the same now."

"We know Paul has been criticised by a few but he's loved by loads more. The ones that might want to leave (the club) now haven't been here when it's been successful. Hopefully they want to be part of that. I want to be part of it."

Arsenal are closing in on a move for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, according to reports in Spain.

The 22-year-old is looking to leave Madrid on a short-term basis to avoid another season on the substitutes' bench, with the Spain Under-21 international accepting that he will not gain the minutes he needs this season under Zinedine Zidane.

According to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal are leading the race to sign Ceballos on a season-long loan, though Tottenham and AC Milan remain interested in the midfielder.

However, they add that there will NOT be a clause inserted into the contract for a future permanent transfer, with Ceballos still very much a part of Madrid's future plans.

Speaking of Arsenal, club director Josh Kroenke - son of majority shareholder Stan Kroenke - made a series of bold statements this week to claim that there is a plan in place to get the club back to its former glories.

A number of supporters' groups have united to form the #WeCareDoYou movement, calling on the board to prove that they are still a force to be reckoned with after missing out on the Champions League for the third consecutive season last time out.

But as chief football writer Miguel Delaney writes, Arsenal have some way to go to prove that these statement are in fact statements, and not just hot air.

Christian Eriksen is being viewed as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba if he leaves Manchester United this summer.

The Independent revealed yesterday that although United are confident of keeping hold of the 26-year-old, there is a Plan B at Old Trafford to bring in Eriksen to plug the large gap that would be left by Pogba's exit.

The Evening Standard reports though that United are not the only club in for Eriksen, as although Real Madrid's long-term interest remains, Atletico are not eyeing up a move for the Denmark international.

It's claimed Diego Simeone wants to sign a playmaking midfielder this summer and that the 27-year-old fits the profile of what he is looking for, though Spurs will driver a hard bargain if they are to let him go over the next month.
Some breaking news coming out of Spain...

Sky Sports are reporting that Tottenham have agreed a £21.7m fee with Atletico Madrid to sell England defender Kieran Trippier.

The 28-year-old will travel to Spain today to undergo a medical and agree personal terms, four years after joining Spurs from Burnley for just £3.5m that represents a nice profit for the north London club.

Here's a few more details on the move that looks set to take the England international to La Liga.

Another England international set to follow Trippier out of the Tottenham exit is his fellow defender Danny Rose.

The Telegraph reports that Rose is a surprise omission from Mauricio Pochettino's pre-season squad that will embark on their tour of Singapore in order to allow the club to negotiate his departure.

Rose has flirted with an exit in the past, and it appears that Spurs are ready to let the left-back go after 12 years with the club.

Newcastle United have confirmed the appointment of Steve Bruce as their new manager on a three-year-deal, with the former Sunderland boss quitting his role with Sheffield Wednesday at the start of the week to formalise his return to the north east.

Here's more from the new Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce, who has said that it is not only a "special day" for himself but also his family given his father's relationship with the Magpies.

"I'm delighted and incredibly proud to be appointed as head coach of Newcastle," Bruce told the club's website. "This is my boyhood club and it was my dad's club, so this is a very special moment for me and my family.

"There is a huge challenge ahead of us, but it's one that my staff and I are ready for. We'll roll our sleeves up and we'll be giving it everything from the off to ensure supporters have a successful team that they can be proud of."

Matthijis de Ligt has arrived in Turin to undergo a medical with Juventus.

De Ligt  will cost the Italian champions £67.5 million, who announced that he was "happy to be here."

The Ajax captain scored the winning goal against Juventus that sent the Amsterdam club through to last season's champions league semi-final, where they then lost to Tottenham.

Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has said that he is looking to sign ''three or four players'' this transfer window during his press conference in Los Angeles.

''We are working, the club is working with the possibility to sign some new players to help us,'' Emery said.

''We are taking with the patience and with the calm because we really want to sign players who can help us with a big performance, and also because we think in the team we have very good players and young players and we also need to take the best player in some positions.''

''Other players can come here to help us. We need, really, that they will come with a big performance and also our target is to achieve three or four players who really improve our team and our squad now.''

On the recent Dani Ceballos rumours, Emery said,  ''I don't want to speak about the names. But Ceballos is a very good player.''

You can read the extended quotes from the press conference on Arsenal's website, here.

West Brom are set to sign Cardiff striker, Kenneth Zohore, according to The Telegraph.

The deal will be worth up to £8 million, with the striker leaving Cardiff's training camp in the United States in order to finalise the deal.

The Dane has just one year left on his deal with Cardiff and scored one goal in the Premier League last season.

MARCA are reporting that Manchester United are demanding €200 million for the sale of Paul Pogba, a fee that Real Madrid are not willing to pay.

It is becoming increasingly unlikely that Pogba will leave this summer, despite United lining up potential suitors should he leave.

Defender, Gianluca Mancini is undergoing a medical with Roma ahead of his transfer from Atalanta.

The Italian will arrive on loan with an obligation to buy the following season for a total of €26 million.

Mancini will be replacing Greek defender, Kostas Manolas, who joined Napoli earlier in the transfer window.

Paris Saint-Germain have rejected an offer from Barcelona for wantaway striker Neymar, which included both Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Rakitic.

Neymar has made it known to PSG that he want to leave the club this summer, having failed to return on time for pre-season training after missing the Copa America with injury.

But a lack of potential destinations means it is unlikely he will get his wish this window, particularly in light of Barcelona's mega-money move for Antoine Griezmann.

However, L'Equipe reports that Barca did launch a move for the Brazilian regardless, and instead of a big-money offer, they put up midfielders Coutinho and Rakitic as payment, along with an addition €40m. But the Ligue 1 champions have rejected the offer and will not bow to selling him on the cheap, having paid £202m for him just two years ago.

Chelsea are hoping to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi down to a new contract, after Bayern Munich pulled the plug on their proposed summer move for the England youngster.

The Independent can reveal that Bayern have shelved any fresh approach for the 18-year-old due to the ruptured Achilles tendon he suffered at the end of last season, despite seeing an offer rejected last January.

Hudson-Odoi is heading into the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and is refusing to agree an extension unless his playing time significantly increases, but Chelsea are hopeful that this setback may actually play into their favour, with new manager Frank Lampard looking to tie him down for the long term.

West Ham have completed a £45m deal to sign French forward Sebastien Haller, the club's record signing.

"I feel really great,” said the centre forward. “I think it’s a really good opportunity for me to be here.

"It means a lot (to be the record signing). It proves that the club [has] really wanted me for a long time. I felt this desire to sign me and I’m really happy to sign, also. it is an ambitious club, a nice club, a nice city and nice fans too

"For me I can guarantee that I will give 100% for the club because the club has given me this confidence and I will try to give it back every day in every game.

"I will always give 100% and respect the club. I think this is a normal thing and that I can guarantee. I know it’s a big transfer and there is a lot of expectation around me, and I just want to make people proud of this transfer and I will give everything I have."

Inter Milan are ready to meet Manchester United's £75m valuation of striker Romelu Lukaku, but only in a deal made up of £60m spread across three years plus an additional £15m in add-ons.

Lukaku is keen on a move to Italy after struggling to meet Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's demands at United, resulting in him losing his first-team spot as the lead striker towards the end of last season.

Inter are keen on Lukaku and have been locked in negotiations all summer, but have so far failed to come up with the right fee to tempt United into selling.

But according to The Sun, the Serie A side are ready to meet United's demands - at least where the total fee is concerned - and will lodge an official bid in the coming days.

Everton remain in the hunt for a big name in the transfer window this summer, and reports suggest that Mario Mandzukic may be the man.

The former Bayern Munich striker may leave Juventus is Maurizio Sarri opts for a different direction, with the 33-year-old facing a somewhat uncertain future.

The Telegraph reports that the Croatia international has been identified by Everton as a possible transfer target if he becomes available, although having already been linked with Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa, the Toffees are unlikely to move for both this summer.

One move that looks to be all but over is Arsenal’s pursuit of Wilfried Zaha, with Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson admitting that the Gunners have not submitted a bid “anywhere near” what the Eagles currently value to Ivory Coast international at.
