Wednesday's transfer news, rumours and done deals

Relive Wednesday's transfer news as Tottenham tried to close in on signing Argentina and Juventus forward Paulo Dybala for a fee believed to be around £62m.

Elsewhere the former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho could be set to join Manchester United from Barcelona, with Arsenal said to be uninterested in the Brazilian, while the Gunners have had a £55m bid for French defender Dayot Upamecano rejected by RB Leipzig.

And Paris Saint-Germain are rumoured to have offered up Neymar to Real Madrid, Juventus and United. Follow the latest below:

Hello and welcome along to The Independent's transfer live blog – we will have all the latest transfer rumours, news and done deals right here throughout the day.

Paulo Dybala is considering a move to Tottenham Hotspur, although there remain stumbling blocks to the transfer.

Spurs are exploring a £60m deal with Juventus, who need to recoup cash to fund an overhaul of the playing squad, but the Argentina international commands a hefty wage while vast agent fees are also thought to be a barrier to any deal being completed.

But after Manchester United's proposed move broke down, Spurs are now in pole position for the sought-after forward. Here's Miguel Delaney with the latest:

Having missed out on Dybala, Manchester United have now turned their attention to Tottenham's Christian Eriksen, with negotiations underway over a £50m transfer.

Spurs are believed to be prepared to let the Dane go in order to raise funds to bring in Dybala or Sporting Lisbon's Bruno Fernandes, and the cooling of Real Madrid's interest means Eriksen is now open to a move to Manchester.

Miguel Delaney has this one covered, too:

But Eriksen is not the only high profile attacking midfielder potentially up for grabs, with Barcelona's desire to rid themselves of Philippe Coutinho well known, and there is significant interest from the Premier League.

Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool have all been mentioned as potential destinations, but it is Arsenal who have agreed a season long loan deal, L'Equipe reported yesterday.

However, Coutinho is not believed to be close to any move at this moment, and with 32 hours still to go in the transfer window, this one could run and run.

Everton could be the busiest Premier League club over the next day-and-a-half as they look to put together a squad capable of challenging the top six, with Wilfried Zaha firmly in their sights.

For all the potential ins, outs and shake it all abouts, it's our Everton transfer roundup:

Plenty of deals still to be done, of course, with some of the longest-running sagas of the summer yet to be concluded.

Need a reminder of the closing times across Europe?

Here you go...

The September 1 Italian deadline will likely be of pertinence to Romelu Lukaku, Manchester United's purgatory-bound striker.

While discussions with Juventus seem to have come to a close with Paulo Dybala unwilling to be a makeweight, Inter Milan's interest has renewed and a deal is beginning to look likely, perhaps at a cheaper price than initially anticipated.

CRYSTAL PALACE NEWS

News from Selhurst Park this morning, with Real Betis midfielder Victor Camarasa set to undergo a medical ahead of a season long loan deal.

Camarasa spent last season on loan at relegated Cardiff, impressing with his technical competency, and Crystal Palace are believed to have agreed a deal that includes an option to buy the player for £15 million at the end of the loan.

NEWCASTLE NEWS

Krafth beer?

Sky Sports are reporting that Swedish full-back Emil Krafth may be on his way to Newcastle to bolster Steve Bruce's defensive options ahead of the new season.

Sky say a £5 million deal has been agreed with Amiens and the player is on his way to Tyneside to complete a medical.

MANCHESTER UNITED NEWS

A big Christian Eriksen transfer update from Chief Football Writer Miguel Delaney - the player is prepared to wait for a Real Madrid move and as such a move to Manchester United is looking unlikely:

Former Manchester United player Danny Welbeck could have found himself a new home, meanwhile, with Watford keen to secure the free agent's signature, per the Daily Mail.

Welbeck has been without a club since the expiration of his Arsenal contract at the end of the season.

Talking of Arsenal, Laurent Koscielny's departure to Bordeaux was confirmed yesterday.

Koscielny has taken to Instagram to deliver a goodbye message to the Arsenal fans:

Further news from Crystal Palace, where Victor Camarasa may not be the only midfielder on their way...

Everton's James McCarthy is also expected to be added in the next 24 hours or so, with a fee in the region of £8.5 million negotiated between the two Premier League clubs.

Pleasingly, it'll see the Irishman reunited with former Hamilton and Wigan teammate James McCarthur...

Not strictly a transfer story but hardly tangential, Gareth Bale has once again been left out of a Real Madrid squad.

Zinedine Zidane's side take on RB Leipzig tomorrow and have included neither the Welshman nor James Rodriguez in a 20-man squad for the fixture, with both potentially departing the club before the window closes.

These are exciting times for West Ham supporters with a strong attacking unit showing signs of gelling in preseason, but Manuel Pellegrini is not done with adding to his attacking options.

The departures of Andy Carroll, Marko Arnautovic, Jordan Hugill and Lucas Perez have left the Irons a little thin up front despite the addition of Sebastien Haller, and the club have identified exciting Basel forward Albian Ajeti as a target in the last few days.

An £8 million deal is likely to go through before the close of the window. West Ham confirmed their fifth summer signing, 18-year-old centre back Goncalo Cardosa, last night.

DONE DEAL!

The end of an era at Arsenal - Carl Jenkinson has left the club for Nottingham Forest on a permanent basis.

Wipe away those tears, Gunners fans...

The Guardian report that Crystal Palace have rejected a £70 million pound bid from Everton for Wilfried Zaha in a deal that would also have seen James McCarthy and Cenk Tosun move to Selhurst Park, the former permanently and the latter on loan.

They go on to state that Crystal Palace are demanding £100 million for the player, which Everton are unwilling to meet. This has supposedly angered Zaha, with any deal between the two clubs now unlikely.

Jurgen Klopp has explained why Liverpool have spent so much less than their rivals in the summer transfer window...

Watford have rejected a bid from Everton for Abdoulaye Doucoure, believed to be around £37m.

Meanwhile, Manchester clubs United and City are both eyeing Norway midfielder Hakon Evjen.
