Transfer news LIVE! Liverpool to revive Guehi deal; Donnarumma delay and Deadline Day reaction

Deadline Day deals: Alexander Isak, Piero Hincapie and Randal Kolo Muani - (London Standard)

Transfer news LIVE!

A record-breaking summer window has closed. The British transfer record was broken twice by the same club, as Liverpool signed Florian Wirtz for £116million and followed it up with Alexander Isak for £125m on Deadline Day as they spent close to half a billion pounds. Arsenal, though, had the biggest outlay as Mikel Arteta was once again heavily backed in the form of eight new signings including Piero Hincapie.

Chelsea were again busier than most, signing the likes of Joao Pedro and Alejandro Garnacho, while also selling a record £300m in talent. Will that be enough to mount a title challenge? Tottenham will hope that the headline signing of Xavi Simons and the late addition of Randal Kolo Muani are enough to give them the creativity needed to compete in the league and Europe, having missed out on Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze.

Manchester United signed Senne Lammens, but some targets failed to secure moves. No Carlos Baleba for Man Utd, no Marc Guehi for Liverpool, no Tyrique George for Fulham, no Manor Solomon for Crystal Palace, and more. Today, we break down the fallout from a stunning summer, so follow along live below with Standard Sport’s dedicated transfer news live blog!

Gyokeres has say on Isak

14:21 , Oli Gent

Viktor Gyokeres has given his thoughts on Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool.

The Arsenal striker is on international duty with Isak with Sweden, with Isak arriving late following his Deadline Day move.

Gyokeres himself made a move this summer from Sporting Lisbon, and he refused to train or play for his former club in order to force through a move, similar to what Isak has done at Newcastle.

“It can be the same that you don’t really know what’s been going on behind [the scenes],” Gyokeres told Sky Sports.

“I don’t really know in his case what the situation has been exactly.”

He shrugged off the idea of ‘player power’.

“We all play,” he continued.

“And the clubs have the most power. Maybe it’s difficult for the players to choose in a lot of cases.

“He doesn’t have any power, clubs can do what they want with a player. It’s difficult but it’s how the situation is.”

He had been part of Ruben Amorim’s ‘bomb squad’, with the Portuguese keen to move him on.

“I'm sorry. Training separately, but that's part of life. I knew this moment would come. It's in the past."

Premier League clubs spend record £3billion

06:41 , Alex Young

Premier League clubs spent a record £3billion in a summer transfer window that finished with a bang thanks to Liverpool's £125million signing of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.

The figure, as estimated by finance company Deloitte, smashed the previous record of £2.36bn two summers ago.

Liverpool spent more than £400m in the window, a record for a Premier League club, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Isak's former club Newcastle all breaking the £200m barrier.

Tim Lunn, director in the Deloitte Sports Business Group, told the PA news agency: "I think it just demonstrates once again the competitive nature of the league - more teams in Europe than ever before and big clubs that are trying to get back in Europe.

"I think that the competitive nature of getting into Europe has never really been more evident.

"I think that's reflected also in the amount of business that's being done. Not necessarily just the the the total spend, but the amount of business in and out of those clubs indicates that significant desire for them to improve and get into those coveted European spots."

DONE DEAL: Isak joins Liverpool after extended transfer saga

Monday 1 September 2025 21:42 , Arthur Ferridge

Liverpool have completed the signing of Alexander Isak on transfer Deadline Day.

Chelsea’s deal for Moises Caicedo two summers ago may end up costing £115m, while the Blues also paid £107m to sign Enzo Fernandez in January 2023.

Newcastle rejected an opening bid for Isak last month worth £110m plus add-ons, though the Swede has always wanted the move and has been training away from the squad in addition to not playing for Eddie Howe’s side this season, releasing a statement on social media - refuted by Newcastle - that accused the club of breaking promises made to him.
