Saturday's transfer news: Lionel Messi sale 'considered' by Barcelona, Arsenal finalise Gabriel Magalhaes deal and Man United make Douglas Costa bid

Arsenal appear to be one of the most busy sides in Europe with Gabriel Magalhaes close to finalising a deal to link up with Mikel Arteta, but now the Gunners appear keen to move for a top tier talent in Thiago Alcantara, who is an option for Liverpool too with his Bayern Munich future in doubt after the Champions League final.

Chelsea seem to be on the brink of signing Ben Chilwell a Frank Lampard upgrades at left-back, with Leicester targeting Ajax’s Nico Tagliafico as his replacement. While the Blues could battle it out with the Gunners and Barcelona for Malang Sarr, who is available on a free transfer.

Speaking of the Catalan club, Lionel Messi‘s future remains in doubt and the Blaugrana are now preparing a response should the Argentine hand in a transfer request – follow all the latest news, rumours and updates from the window so far below:

Arsenal have joined the race to sign Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara.
The £23m asking price could prove problematic, report the Mail, with top end wages thrown in for the 29-year-old.
Liverpool remain keen too, with the Spain midfielder able to discuss a free transfer from January.
Chelsea look primed to land Ben Chilwell after Leicester stepped up their pursuit for his replacement.
Ajax's Nico Tagliafico appears to be the first choice for the Foxes, report the Mail.
Leaving Frank Lampard closer to landing an upgrade at left-back with the England star set to command a £50m fee from the Blues.
Manchester United's chances of landing David Brooks from relegated Bournemouth were boosted by the club's stance over the Welsh midfielder's future.
The Cherries will not stand in his way should a big move materialise, with the £40m-rated star up for sale - along with any other player at the club, according to the Sun.
Brooks has two more years on his deal at the Vitality Stadium, meaning this summer will be the prime opportunity for the Cherries to maximise their profit on the former Sheffield United star.

An element of Liverpool’s support will not appreciate Georginio Wijnaldum until he is gone. His departure is a possibility because Barcelona’s new coach Ronald Koeman is interested in taking the 29-year-old to Catalonia.

It is easy to understand Koeman’s logic. Barca lack energy in midfield and Wijnaldum provides vigour. The player has excelled under Jurgen Klopp and has been a vital cog in Liverpool’s success. The new man at the Nou Camp has worked with Wijnaldum at international level and is aware of his strengths. With just a year left on his contract at Anfield, the Dutchman offers plenty of value should he be determined to make the move to Barca.

Antonio Conte would be keen to manage Manchester United in the future.
That's according to Goal's Romeo Agresti, who is particularly well connected at Juventus, where Conte used to coach of course.
His relationship with Inter has been turbulent, despite an overall positive debut campaign.
And a meeting on Tuesday will decide whether he sticks it out for a second season, despite two more years on his deal.
And Agresti reports a sabbatical is on the cards, with hopes of one day being in charge at Old Trafford, despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remaining firmly in charge for the foreseeable future.
Napoli full-back Faouzi Ghoulam looks set for a move to Wolves.
That's according to Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy, with Jorge Mendes, of course, brokering the deal and the Neapolitans asking for around €15m (£13.5m) - well below the €35m (£31.5m) release clause.
The 29-year-old could represent a smart addition with Jonny set to miss considerable time with a knee ligament injury.
While the transfer window doesn't stop for anybody...
There happens to be a fairly important game tonight.
Here's Miguel Delaney's big match preview on PSG vs Bayern in the Champions League final:
Juventus have ruled themselves out of the race to sign Arturo Vidal.
The Chilean is unwanted at Barcelona as they try to clear out their squad.
But despite his experience and success in Italy with the Old Lady and good relations between the clubs after the Pjanic-Arthur swap, Romeo Agresti has confirmed there is no interest in the 33-year-old.
AC Milan are getting close to taking Tiemoue Bakayoko off Chelsea's hands.
The French midfielder impressed on loan with the Rossoneri and now Fabrizio Romano believes a deal is close.
A loan deal, with an option to buy, looks to be the framework of the deal, initially for €3m and then €35m in 2021 should they feel confident enough in his future.
Aston Villa will make a £30m move for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.
The Sun believe Villa will move for the 22-year-old to help them fend off another relegation battle.
While more attacking  talent could arrive at Villa Park in the form of Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma from Dean Smith's old club Brentford.
Jose Callejon looks primed for a move to Villarreal, ending his long stay at Napoli.
The Spanish winger's contract has expired, leaving the Submarines to continue their fine work in the market this summer.
The 33-year-old has reached an agreement to go back home to La Liga, report Sky Sport Italia, after seven years in Campania, playing 349 games, scoring 82 goals and providing 78 assists.
In a transfer merry-go-round, Edin Dzeko could move to Juventus, report Tuttosport and the Gazzetta dello Sport.
That will allow Arek Milik to join Roma as the Bosnian's replacement.
The former Man City striker will land a two-year deal worth €5m per season plus bonuses - and Cristiano Ronaldo has personally approved of the deal.
Wolves are keen on Lucas Ocampos from Sevilla.
Sky Sports claim Nuno is considering the Argentine as a replacement for Adama Traore.
The 26-year-old has a release clause of £62m in his deal, which has four years to run.
But a bid of £40m could tempt the Europa League winners.
Wolves could sanction the sale of Traore should a monster bid arrive with the Spain international enjoying a tremendous season at Molineux.

Pepe Reina looks destined to join Lazio from AC Milan on a two-year contract, according to reports from Sky Sport Italia.

The former Liverpool goalkeeper helped Aston Villa stay up last season while on loan, but now looks destined to head south to the capital after a two-year stay at the San Siro.

A medical is now expected next week with the Biancocelesti, who will play in the Champions League next season.

Jose Mourinho has hailed Daniel Levy's role in capturing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton.

The club found very intelligently the moment to do it.

It was the last year of contract for Pierre, his club was in a difficult situation in terms of negotiation so I think Mr Levy did amazing for us getting such a good player for us.

Jose Mourinho has hailed Tottenham's "very, very good business" this summer after signing Joe Hart and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
"I think the club did amazing in both because they are going to make our squad stronger," Mourinho told Spurs TV.
"To bring Joe, 75 caps for England and lost of experience, he is great protection for us to have three goalkeepers.
"All internationals for their country, all good goalkeepers, you can sleep well because any injuries or problems that we have, we have three good goalkeepers.
"With some of the crazy fixtures we are going to have, playing all the competitions, the Carabao Cup at the same time as Europa League and Premier League, even goalkeepers cannot play every match so it is very, very good business for us."
Inter are "pushing Conte out" according to Corriere dello Sport.
That is the general consensus ahead of his meeting on Tuesday to decide his future.
After losing the Europa League final to Sevilla, Conte was non-committal on his future with €47m in play as part of a severance package.
Massimiliano Allegri is a prime candidate to replace Conte, having been without work since being replaced by Juventus with Maurizio Sarri last year.
Chelsea are leading the race to sign France Under-21 centre back Malang Sarr.

The 21-year-old centre-back is a free agent after allowing his contract at Nice to expire.

And the Blues could sign him on a free transfer and then send him out on loan.

Barcelona are targeting Paulo Dybala as the heir to Lionel Messi should he depart this summer.
Barcelona's No 10 is considering an exit after another calamitous season at the Nou Camp with off-the-pitch issues providing negative influences on the pitch.
And Tuttosport believe the Catalans are prepared for his exit by lining up a deal for the Juventus forward, who is stalling on a new contract - with demands of €15m per season net to almost double his salary.
Leeds are targeting Valencia striker Rodrigo and the La Liga side will listen to offers of £30m.
Marcelo Bielsa also wants the club to land Freiburg's Robin Koch and Arsenal's Rob Holding after securing promotion to the Premier League.
Leeds are also keen on Ryan Kent after a £10m bid was rejected by Rangers and Brighton's Ben White, with the Seagulls already knocking back two bids for the former loanee.
