Thursday's transfer news round-up: Rumours, gossip and done deals from Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs and more

The Premier League's January transfer window is well underway with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea all set to be busy.

Liverpool were the summer's biggest spenders with no fewer than four new arrivals. Goalkeeper Alisson was the headline-grabber with the Brazilian already proving worth every penny of the world-record fee the Reds shelled out for the Brazilian but something of a defensive crisis could see Jurgen Klopp go back in for a new centre-back this month. United got a couple of new faces in through the door in the summer but it hasn't made a difference with Jose Mourinho out and now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in. Will he spend them out of trouble in the January sales?

Chelsea have made the biggest splash with the signing of Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic while Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal could all choose to dip their toes in the water as they battle for an all-important top four spot. We will have all the latest news, views, rumours, gossip and done deals right here.

Diego Godin appears unlikely to sign a new contract with Atletico Madrid.

Godin's current deal expires in the summer with the chances of the 32-year-old renewing his stay now slim.

The Uruguayan was the subject of eleventh-hour interest from Manchester United on the final day of the summer transfer window, though their advances failed.

And Tuttomercato in Italy report that they have renewed their interest this month.

Eric Bailly could leave Manchester United and return to La Liga this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The Ivorian fell out of favour under Jose Mourinho earlier this season and has been in and out since caretaker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's appointment.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Sevilla are interested in the 24-year-old centre-back even though convincing United to sell would not be easy.

Daniel Sturridge could be offered a new Liverpool contract, according to the Daily Mail.

Sturridge has six months remaining on his existing Anfield deal and can now negotiate a pre-contract arrangement with clubs outside England.

Monaco, Milan, Sevilla and Inter are among those named as a potential suitors, but Liverpool are said to be considering whether to off the 29-year-old renewed terms.

Chelsea could be set for a significant overhaul this month.

They've already signed Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund but are targeting more reinforcements.

They remain interested in Bournemouth's Callum Wilson and could also look for a new defender with Gary Cahill likely to leave.

Cesc Fabregas is set for Monaco and a reunion with former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry.

West Ham are apparently keen on Everton midfielder James McCarthy.

The Hammers are looking to bolster their midfield and see the Republic of Ireland international as the ideal addition.

The Daily Mail say they will push for a loan deal this month.

Two Premier League left-backs are being targeted by Marseille.

The Daily Mirror says reports in France suggest the Ligue 1 side are eyeing up Arsenal's Nacho Monreal and Liverpool's Alberto Moreno.

Chelsea are looking to sell Victor Moses but want a £12million fee, The Sun says.

Clubs including Crystal Palace and Fulham are interested in the 27-year-old, who has made just six appearances in all competitions this season.

Everton forward Richarlison is being eyed up by Barcelona as a potential replacement for an ageing Luis Suarez, according to the Daily Star.

The 21-year-old has impressed at Everton and is a target for the Spanish side alongside Tottenham striker Harry Kane, the paper says.

Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow is a £4million target for Leeds and Aston Villa, according to The Sun.

The 28-year-old has lost his number one spot since Martin Dubravka's arrival and could be on the move next month, the paper reports.

Everton manager Marco Silva has played down speculation about a January move for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.

The Belgium international had his loan at Valencia cut short and is available this month.

Everton already have defender Kurt Zouma on loan from Chelsea so would have to buy the forward outright but even a reported fee of between £12million to £14m may not be persuasive enough for Silva, who has resorted to playing winger Richarlison as a lone front man this season.

"We are aware of the market, we know what's happened, but it is not something which is a priority for us," said the Portuguese.

"Because we spent some money last summer it is not easy spending big, big money in all the markets.

"For us to do something in this moment it would mean another player would leave the club and it is not something in our mind.

"If you do something it because something has happened in our squad."

Fulham are preparing for a January move for Leicester's Islam Slimani, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Claudio Ranieri is looking to boost the club's hopes of Premier League survival, the paper says.

Slimani is currently on loan at Fenerbahce but the Turkish club are said to be prepared to cut the deal short.

Sevilla are ready to bow out of the chase for Alvaro Morata, with Atletico Madrid understood to be leading the chase for the Chelsea striker if they can clear space in their wage bill.

Morata is available on loan this month as the Blues look for him to rediscover some form away from Stamford Bridge after a first half of the season in which he struggled to be productive.

Sevilla, sitting third in La Liga and still within touching distance of Barcelona, are looking for players this month who can help them in attack.

Curiously, given who they are chasing, Sevilla might have found their answer in Barcelona's Munir, who is set to finally cut ties with the club where he came through as a much-vaunted academy product.

Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany is wanted by Barcelona, according to The Sun.

It is thought the Spanish side are interested in bringing the 32-year-old, who is out of contract in July, to the Nou Camp to add some experience to their back four.

Manolo Gabbiadini has completed his move from Southampton to Sampdoria, the
Premier League club have announced.

The Italian returns to Serie A on a permanent deal.

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock has voiced his frustration over transfer window inactivity and compared deal-making to "climbing a mountain with butter on one of your hands".

The Bluebirds have suffered a difficult January window so far with moves to land Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne and Nice midfielder Adrien Tameze ending without success.

Warnock also made another visit to France in midweek to watch Nantes striker Emiliano Sala for the second time in a month, but he admits it is unlikely that the Argentinian will be heading to south Wales.

"It's like climbing a mountain with butter on your hands," Warnock said ahead of the crunch relegation battle against Huddersfield on Saturday.

"One day you think you are almost there and then you slide back down.

"You get your hopes built up. People say 'yes, that's a done deal' and all of a sudden the next day it's not a done deal.

"You have to learn to live with that really."

More from the second tier as Ipswich Town have completed the signing of former West Ham defender James Collins.

He joins on a deal until the end of the season.

Back to Manchester United now where Ashley Young could be set for a move away.

The winger/defender/wherever any manager asks him to play's contract is up at the end of the season with foreign clubs now able to negotiate with him.

One of those is said to be Inter Milan, according to the Mirror, who want to snap up the former England man for free in the summer.

Some news from the Championship and a blow to West Brom's promotion hopes.

Leicester have recalled midfielder Harvey Barnes from his loan spell.

The England U21 has impressed at the Hawthorns scoring nine goals but will now head back to the King Power for the remainder of the season.

Everton could move for Barcelona outcast Malcom this month.

The Brazilian has found first-team football hard to come by since joining from Bordeaux in the summer.

And, according to Marca, the Toffees could now try and capitalise.

Liverpool youngster Rafael Camacho is being linked with a loan move to former club Sporting until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old winger could return to his native Portugal on a temporary basis as Liverpool want him to gain more first-team experience.

However Jurgen Klopp says he has no interest in letting him leave for Sporting.
