Thursday's transfer news: Latest rumours, gossip and done deals

The Premier League's January transfer window is upon us with Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham all set to be busy.

Chelsea have made the biggest splash with the signing of Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic and look set to be active again before the window. The Blues are chasing AC Milan’s Gonzalo Higuain while Alvaro Morata edges closer towards a move to Real Madrid. There will be further outgoings too with Cesc Fabregas already gone to Monaco and the future of Callum Hudson-Odoi firmly up in the air. Arsenal too are still looking for reinforcements, but will be restricted to loan deals. Will Barcelona’s Denis Suarez or Bayern Munich’s James Rodriguez make the move?

Manchester United only managed a few additions in the summer but with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the helm could well be busier with a new centre-back his top priority. Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Roma’s Kostas Manolas are just two of his options while Tottenham could also choose to dip their toes in the water as they battle for an all-important top four spot.

To Chelsea where their search for a striker could finally be over.

The Evening Standard reports the Blues hope to seal a deal with Juventus over a deal to bring Gonzalo Higuain to Stamford Bridge by lunchtime today so he's eligible to face Arsenal tomorrow.

There remains work to be done with the Argentine currently on loan at AC Milan and the Italian giants more keen on a permanent sale rather than a temporary one.
