Transfer news LIVE: Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool rumours and gossip

Follow all the day's latest transfer news as Manchester United and Arsenal both look to complete tide-turning transfers in their push to return to Champions League football.

United are edging closer to a swap deal that would see Romelu Lukaku join Juventus and Argentinian playmaker Paulo Dybala move in the other direction. Lukaku has agreed terms with the Italian champions and both clubs are now just waiting on the decision of Dybala after the 25-year-old met with Maurizio Sarri yesterday afternoon. It's believed he'll demand Ed Woodward pays him close to £350,000-per-week to match United's top earners.

Arsenal are set to announce Nicolas Pepe on a club-record £72m transfer after persona terms were finalised and the Ivorian winger underwent a medical earlier in the week. The Gunners are still edging closer with their pursuit of Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, while a loan deal for Juve centre-back Daniele Rugani is also being mooted. Thank you for joining us at The Independent. We'll have all the day's latest transfer news, rumours, gossip and done deals.

First up, it's the biggest story of the day. After Romelu Lukaku agreed personal terms with Juventus and the Italian champions came to an agreement with Manchester United, a trade for the Belgian striker and Paulo Dybala is well and truly in motion.

Here's Chief Football Writer Miguel Delaney with the latest:
Arsenal are set to announce the arrival of Nicolas Pepe today after a £72m fee was agreed with Lille, personal terms were finalised and the player underwent a medical. He's been seen with the club's official photographer, walking in and out of London Colney, being saluted by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. All that's left is the announcement.

Zinedine Zidane has addressed Gareth Bale's golfing obession after it was revealed the Real Madrid winger had visited the course while ostensibly being unable to play in the club's friendly against Tottenham due to mental duress.

The Welshman saw his £1m-per-week move to China blocked by the board last week and looks set to stay with a manager who's actively tried to force him out.

Arsenal starlet Emile Smith Rowe is set for another loan move to the Bundesliga, as revealed by The Independent yesterday:

Laurent Koscielny is still determined to leave Arsenal this summer as the club captain continues his effective strike, after refusing to join the pre-season tour to the US.

The Frenchman is insistent the club honour a gentleman's agreement that will see him return to Ligue 1 for this season and Unai Emery admitted yesterday that the club are working to a resolution and hinted that there will be a replacement.

...That target is reported to be Daniele Rugani, according to reports in Italy.

The central defender, who was a target for Chelsea last summer, has seen his place in Turin come under threat after the arrival of Matthijs de Ligt and the Gunners are attempting to sign the defender on a two-year loan.
Chelsea youngser Kasey Palmer is set to undergo a medical with Bristol City after a £3.5m deal was agreed.

The 22-year-old has been included in Frank Lampard's pre-season perparations but is unwilling to go on loan for a third successive season and has instead elected to join former teammate Jay Dasilva in the south east.
Bruno Fernandes was all set to undergo a medical at Manchester United, however, it appears the Portuguese international's hopes of a move to one of Europe's elite clubs have been scuppered this summer by Paulo Dybala's potential move to Old Trafford.

It is an either/or scenario for United unless Paul Pogba forces through a move to Real Madrid. However, after Gareth Bale's departure collapsed, the French World Cup-winner looks set to remain with United and Fernandes is set to be the midfielder to miss out on a big-money move as a result.
United are still yet to stump up the cash for Leicester's Harry Maguire. Northern Football Correspondent Mark Critchley has the latest:

The Sun reports that Romelu Lukaku will remain at Manchester United if a deal for Paulo Dybala falls through with Inter Milan now firmly out of the race to sign the Belgian.

Lukaku is happy with his personal terms agreed with the Italian champions, but his future now hinges entirely on the diminutive Argentinian.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has spoken about Nicolas Pepe's £72m arrival:

“When there are great players like that who are close to signing with a great club like Arsenal. It’s very pleasant to have a player like that.

“I hope that he signs quickly and that it gets done.”

Brighton are leading the race to sign Brentford's Neal Maupay, according to Sky Sports.

The Bees are hoping to secure £20m for the 22-year-old striker who scored 25 goals in 43 goals in the Championship last season.
Jurgen Klopp has admitted Liverpool are still yet to make a decision over the future of Harry Wilson.

The Welsh international, who spent last season on loan at Derby, has impressed during pre-season and the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle and Bournemouth are all considering making approaches.
Derby have agreed a fee for Arsenal defender Krystian Bielik, according to The Telegraph.

The fee is believed to have the potential to rise above the club-record fee the Rams paid for Matej Vydra including add-ons. The 21-year-old Pole, who joined Arsenal from Legia Warsaw for £2.4m in 2015, is expected to undergo a medical today.
Barcelona are yet to receive an offer for Samuel Umtiti. The Spanish champions are open to selling the French international, who has been usurped by Clement Lenglet, but only if a substantial offer is made.

The centre-back could be subject to an approach from Manchester United if a deal for Harry Maguire isn't pushed over the line.
Sky Sports are reporting that Napoli are preparing to make a shock move for Wilfried Zaha after missing out on Nicolas Pepe.

Zaha is desperate to play Champions League football but saw his pleas to join Arsenal vanish after the Eagles rejected two bids from the Gunners.

But it's now reported that Napoli are willing to offer £54.6m to land the winger.
Birmingham have made a surprise loan swoop for Real Madrid starlet Moha Ramos.

The 19-year-old, who was on the bench for the Madird first team 10 times last season, will initially work with the club's U23s om a season-long deal.
Birmingham are attempting to make an audacious bid to sign Inter Milan forward George Puscas.

The Romanian has been subject to widespread interest after starring at the U21 Euros last month and Inter are urgently attempting to accumulate funds to help finance a deal for Romelu Lukaku.

The Italians currently value Puscas at £9.1m - a price which Birmingham are unable to reach.
Liverpool pinned down promising young defender Ki-Jana Hoever to a new long-term deal yesterday.

The 17-year-old is highly touted by Liverpool's academy coaches and has been with the first-team squad at their training base in Evian.

“I’m really happy to have signed here.

“I need to be realistic. I hope to make some minutes in the first team this year, of course, but I know that I will probably play more games for the U23s. I will just train hard with the first team, show them what I can do and if there is a chance, I will be ready. That’s what I am hoping for.

“I still need to learn a lot of things. I am still 17, so I just need to keep doing what I am doing to get better at the things that can be better.

“It’s a lot of trust from the club to let me sign this new contract. I will try to do them proud and show what I can do for this club – and I hope these are not the last few years I play here.”

DONE DEAL! Aston Villa has signed Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton for £8m.

Heaton made 19 Premier League appearances last season and becomes Villa's 11th summer signing.
