He failed to impress Enzo Maresca, finding the back of the net just once in 12 appearances before being sent away to AC Milan, where his fortunes did not improve.

Benfica could now provide him a second chance, though, as they weigh up a £25.6m bid.

Arsenal have added Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze to their list of targets, talkSPORT reports.

The England international has a release clause of around £68m in his contract at Selhurst Park and is also being linked with a move to the Gunners’ north London rivals Tottenham.

With that said, it is unclear as to whether Eze is a top target for the Gunners or backup in case they can’t finalise a deal for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo.
