The German winger is out of contract at the Allianz Arena, and has still not put pen to paper on a new deal.

Potter wants Soucek stay

17:04 , Oli Gent

West Ham manager Graham Potter wants Tomas Soucek to remain at the London Stadium next season.

The Czech has been a major goalscoring outlet for Potter since his arrival in east London, although the former Brighton and Chelsea manager is set to oversee a big overhaul of personnel this summer.

Vladimir Coufal, Danny Ings, Aaron Cresswell, and Lukasz Fabianski are all set to depart on free transfers, while Evan Ferguson and Carlos Soler’s loan deals will not be made permanent.

As for Soucek, Potter wants the box-to-box midfielder to commit his future to the club.

“He’s been a fantastic signing for the club, first and foremost, to deliver what he has delivered over a period of time.

“He’s a top professional, he has been a fantastic servant to the club, and I am looking forward to working with him in the short, medium and long-term future.

“What did I see in him at Brighton? The same. The same that West Ham have seen in him, and what he has developed in fairness.

“He’s a midfield player that can do both sides of the game. Affects the game. Scores. In the boxes, he’s fantastic, defence and attack, set pieces.

“Add to that, a really, really good professional. He is a quiet man but leads by example in terms of how he conducts himself every day.”

Phillips has played last game for Ipswich, says McKenna

16:48 , Oli Gent

Kieran McKenna believes Kalvin Phillips has played his last game for Ipswich Town.

The England midfielder is on loan at Portman Road from Manchester City, but has seen his game time limited by persisting injuries.

Despite only starting 14 Premier League games, McKenna thought that Phillips had settled in to the squad well in east Anglia.

“He arrived having not played much football for the couple of seasons before. If he had, he probably wouldn’t have been at Ipswich this season,” McKenna said at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Tractor Boys’ trip to Leicester.

“He has been a good person in the group and had a fairly stable run of games at the start of the season while he was still working to get back to his best form.

“It felt like in training and on match days he was getting to a good, consistent level.

“Then he got a big gash on his foot from the (Tottenham) game, required a lot of stitches and time off his feet.

“We managed to get him back in the squad, but he probably hasn’t been fully fit or had a really good training base behind him.

“From there he has had a little problem with his Achilles and is not going to be available this weekend.

“Whether we can get him on the pitch before the end of the season is maybe unlikely at this point.

“In many ways I think frustrating for him and for us that we haven’t been able to get him to his best as quickly as we could and utilise a really fully fit and confident Kalvin for more of the season because he would have been an addition to us.”

Real closing in on Huijsen

16:25 , Oli Gent

Real Madrid are slowly but surely closing in on the signing of Dean Huijsen.

The Bournemouth defender, who only joined the Cherries last summer from Juventus, has been the subject of one of the biggest transfer merry-go-rounds already this year, with a host of Premier League clubs looking to do battle with Madrid for his signature.

The Spaniard’s priority - as has previously been reported - has always been a move to the Bernabeu, and Fabrizio Romano reports that the centre-back will be part of Los Blancos’ Club World Cup plans at the end of the domestic campaign, with the 19-year-old having his medical with the La Liga side this afternoon.

Mikel Arteta offers key Arsenal transfer guarantee

16:06 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Mikel Arteta insists he is fully aligned with new sporting director Andrea Berta when it comes to Arsenal’s transfer plans this summer.

Berta was hired by Arsenal at the end of March following the resignation of predecessor Edu in November last year.

Edu had worked with Arteta ever since the Spaniard was hired by the Gunners back in December 2019 and the pair had developed a strong relationship.

Arteta has described Berta as “very driven”, but insists the pair are on the same page when it comes to how Arsenal need to bolster their squad this summer.

Sesko transfer hint?

15:41 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

RB Leipzig have launched their new home kit for the 2025/26 season and Benjamin Sesko does not feature in the club's official video trailer.

Is this a sign that the striker, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Chelsea, will be on the move this summer?

Interestingly, Xavi Simons - who reportedly has informed the Bundesliga outfit of his decision to leave - is in the video.

Howe frustrated with transfer speculation

15:16 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Eddie Howe has expressed a frustration at transfer speculation surrounding his Newcastle stars.

Despite the Magpies being well on course to qualify for the Champions League, it hasn't stopped talk of a number of players departing in the summer.

Alexander Isak is courting interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, Bruno Guimaraes has his fair share of suitors whilst Anthony Gordon was heavily tipped to join the Premier League champions last summer.

Though, Howe has said: "It is a frustration because I don't see why our players are getting linked here, there and everywhere with other clubs.

"I'd like to think the players are happy here. I'd like to think again that they're seeing us grow and develop into a team that hopefully can compete at the top end of the division.

"We have no divine right to do that, but I think we're going in the right direction, so yes, it's a source of frustration. But I don't let it absorb me, really."

Slot: Chiesa deserves more playing time

14:51 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Arne Slot says Federico Chiesa has been unfortunate this season.

Chiesa joined Liverpool last summer but has been restricted to a handful of Premier League appearances.

As a result he has been tipped to leave once the transfer reopens.

However, Slot has offered a reason as to why the Italian hasn't featured much.

“In terms of the quality, he deserves more playing time," Slot told reporters.

“He has the quality to play for us but unfortunately for him, he’s in competition with Mo Salah on the right wing, and I think he could also play on the left but there’s Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz.

“I don’t think I’m wrong if I say all three of them have had great, great, great seasons.

“For him, he started one, two or maybe three nil down because when he came in by a long way he was not as fit as those players were so that doesn’t help in the beginning.

“Before he was as fit as the rest but the others did so well there was not a reason to change.”

13:01

Liverpool’s move for Jeremie Frimpong is now reportedly in its final stages.

The Reds have quickly swooped for the Bayer Leverkusen right-back as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is heading to Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer.

Negotiations have progressed quickly, with Fabrizio Romano now reporting that a deal is almost done and nearly worthy of the full ‘here we go’ treatment.

He says personal terms are nearly agreed and that there is no issue with Liverpool triggering Frimpong’s modest release clause, with talks this week with Leverkusen over paying the £29.5m in instalments.

Gyokeres’ current release clause at the Estadio Jose Alvalade is worth around £84m, though The Athletic now say that Sporting are expected to be prepared to accept a bid in the region of £60m-£70m.

They say that Benjamin Sesko remains a strong option too for Arsenal.

Liverpool ahead of Man City in Florian Wirtz battle

Earlier this week came reports that the Reds had also held talks over the Bayer Leverkusen star after his parents visited the UK and spoke to long-term suitors Manchester City, who are believed to have submitted an offer for his services.

Bayern Munich were previously thought to be the leading contender for Wirtz.

German publication BILD’s head of football Christian Falk has now told CaughtOffside that Liverpool have moved ahead of City in the race, but that Bayern are still optimistic that they will get their man either this summer or when his current Leverkusen deal expires next summer.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in Rodrygo race

09:54 , George Flood

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all look to be in a race to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo.

The Brazilian attacker’s future at the Bernabeu is uncertain after losing his starting role over recent weeks and a move could now be in the offing this summer.

Arsenal and Liverpool are both said to be admirers of Rodrygo, but they could face more competition from within the Premier League.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Chelsea are also also “aware of the market opportunity”, with Rodrygo keen to play on the left wing in future after spending a lot of time on the right in Madrid alongside Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr.

Arsenal confident over Martin Zubimendi deal

09:27 , George Flood

Arsenal are still confident of sealing the signing of Martin Zubimendi, reports claim.

Reports emerged back in January that the Gunners were set to activate the Spanish midfielder’s £51m release clause at Real Sociedad in the summer.

However, doubts have crept in since then, with more speculation in Spain this week that Arsenal’s deal is not done for a player who previously turned down Liverpool, leading to renewed hope for Real Madrid and possibly Barcelona.

However, The Athletic now report that Arsenal remain confident that Zubimendi will be their player next season.

Dean Huijsen set for Real Madrid medical today

08:50

One player who definitely will not be moving to Liverpool this summer or indeed staying in the Premier League at all is Dean Huijsen.

The Reds were among a queue of clubs recently linked with Bournemouth’s highly-rated young defender, along with Chelsea and Arsenal.

However, he has long since been a key target for Real Madrid, who have already made their decisive move before the summer.

Huijsen is expected to undergo a medical with Los Blancos today after they agreed to pay his £50m release clause at the Vitality Stadium.

He will then return for Tuesday night’s penultimate fixture of the season away at Manchester City.

Liverpool eye Rayan Cherki as Florian Wirtz alternative

Liverpool could pivot to Rayan Cherki if they fail to sign Florian Wirtz.

The Reds were rumoured this week to have held secret transfer talks over the Bayer Leverkusen team-mate of Jeremie Frimpong, whose release clause in the Bundesliga is expected to be triggered imminently.

Wirtz’s parents were believed to have also spoken to Manchester City during a trip to the UK, while Bayern Munich have also been strongly linked with the German international.

While those clubs all wait on Wirtz, Liverpool could yet choose to swoop for Cherki instead.

GiveMeSport say the French winger has a preference to head to Merseyside this summer and is likely to be available for a cut-price fee as he enters the final 12 months of his Lyon contract.

Liverpool apparently have not ruled out a potential move for Cherki.

However, having scored nine times in his first 15 league games, the Senegalese has found the net only once in the subsequent 15, either side of a significant hamstring injury.

Leverkusen 'unaware' of Frimpong talks with Liverpool

A cryptic Instagram post from the defender’s agent, Jeffrey Lemmert, on Monday evening sent some excited Liverpool supporters into meltdown, whilst reports today claim that Frimpong is expected to sign for the club this summer.

Those rumours appear to be wide of the mark, however, as Leverkusen chief, Fernando Carro, insists no deal is in place.

Speaking to sport.de, Carro said: "Jeremie Frimpong has a long contract with us, which also has an exit clause, but we are currently unaware of any transfer.

“The rumors surprised me a bit when I started in the football business seven years ago.

"As I've gradually become more involved, there are always different interested parties, there are different parties, there are different relationships.

“It's actually quite difficult to figure out where the rumors come from, but I have to say, there are many that really surprise me.”

The 24-year-old Frimpong, a Netherlands international, has been on the club's radar for some time and is understood to be open to a move to Anfield to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold.

His release clause of £30million makes a deal relatively straightforward and the Press Association understands talks are ongoing with the player's representative.

A highly-anticipated summer is expected to bring significant reinforcement of the squad with a centre-back, striker and midfielder likely to be on Slot's wishlist.

Liverpool do have an interest in Frimpong's Leverkusen team-mate Florian Wirtz but the attacking midfielder is also supposedly a target for Bayern Munich and Manchester City and a reported £125million valuation may prove prohibitive with other business to be done.

Liverpool confident of signing £30m Frimpong

Thursday 15 May 2025 10:03 , Alex Young

Liverpool are expected to wrap up the signing of Jeremie Frimpong, their dream replacement for the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold confirmed last week that he has decided to leave the Anfield club this summer, following the conclusion of his contract. It will see the end of a two-decade-long association with his boyhood club and leave Liverpool needing to replace one of the best right-backs in the world.

Liverpool have been anticipating Alexander-Arnold's impending exit for some time and earlier this year pinpointed Bayer Leverkusen's Frimpong as their first-choice target.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein now reports that Frimpong is expected to sign for Liverpool this summer.

The report states that discussions between club and players have progressed well and an agreement is set to be reached to take the 24-year-old to Anfield on a five-year contract.

Frimpong has a €35million (£29.6m) release clause in his Leverkusen contract, meaning the Reds have been able to speak to right-back without his current club's involvement.

Liverpool hold secret meeting over Wirtz hijack

Thursday 15 May 2025 09:10 , Alex Young

Liverpool have held a secret meeting with Florian Wirtz in an effort to hijack a move for Manchester City and Bayern Munich's no1 transfer target.

Wirtz has two years left on his contract with Bayer Leverkusen, who are expected to cash in. Figures over around £125million has been reported for the midfielder.

City wants Wirtz as their Kevin De Bruyne replacement and have reported gone as far as discussing a deal with player's father and agent, Hans, ahead of what would be a British record transfer.

But now Liverpool have made a surprise move. The Athletic report that the Reds have made contact with Wirtz's representatives to express an interest in the player and gauge his preference over a summer move.

Should Liverpool get encouragement that Wirtz is open to moving to the Premier League over remaining in Germany with Bayern, they are expected to move forward with what would be a club-record bid.

Delap 'chooses next club' amid Man Utd and Chelsea links

Thursday 15 May 2025 08:49 , Alex Young

Manchester United have reportedly discovered a significant update in their pursuit of Ipswich striker Liam Delap.

The 22-year-old has been a standout player for the Tractor Boys this season, scoring 12 goals in 35 Premier League appearances whilst also chipping in with a couple of assists.

Ipswich’s relegation from the top flight means the £30m release clause in Delap’s contract can be activated this summer and he is expected to be on the move once the transfer window officially opens on June 1.

Amid links to Newcastle and Chelsea, it was reported by Sky Sports News that Man Utd were believed to be in ‘pole position’ for the striker’s signature.

Furthermore, the report stated that Delap would be happy to move to Old Trafford this summer, though his final decision could be swayed by whether the Red Devils beat Tottenham in the Europa League final, thus qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

However, fresh developments suggest Man United have been dealt a huge blow.

According to reports, Delap favours a move to Chelsea where he would be reunited with Enzo Maresca who was his academy coach at Manchester City.
