Transfer news: Latest rumours, gossip and done deals from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Spurs and more

The Premier League's January transfer window is upon us with Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham all set to be busy.

Liverpool were the summer's biggest spenders with no fewer than four new arrivals. Goalkeeper Alisson was the headline-grabber with the Brazilian already proving worth every penny of the world-record fee the Reds shelled out for the Brazilian. Could long-term target Nabil Fekir join him next month? United got a couple of new faces in through the door in the summer but it hasn't made a difference with Jose Mourinho out and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in. Will he spend them out of trouble in the January sales?

Chelsea have made the biggest splash with the signing of Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic while Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal could all choose to dip their toes in the water as they battle for the title and an all-important top four spot. We will have all the latest news, views, rumours, gossip and done deals right here so don't touch that dial.

Good morning and welcome to today's Independent transfer live blog.

The January window is upon us with the Premier League’s biggest clubs set to spend, spend, spend as the sales re-open.

We'll bring you all the latest news plus all the done deals and the juiciest gossip throughout the day right here so don't touch that dial.

Without further ado, off we go.

We begin this morning with Chelsea's ongoing search for a striker, which looks to be continuing despite Alvaro Morata's double in the 2-0 FA Cup victory over Nottingham Forest.

The Sunday Express reports that Chelsea are ready to make a £50m offer for Edinson Cavani, the PSG and Uruguay striker, in the hope of finally finding the frontman that can allow Eden Hazard to return to his usual role on the left wing.

However, it's added that Chelsea face competition from China for the 31-year-old, who has been long linked with an exit as PSG look to build a new 'Galaticos' team to rival Real Madrid in Europe.

Chelsea have already secured the £58m signing of US international midfielder Christian Pulisic this month and it appears there will be no let-up in their transfer business for the remainder of the January window.

Arsenal are looking into the possibility of signing Barcelona misfit Denis Suarez this month after opening talks with the Spanish club over a loan move.

The 25-year-old - who celebrates his birthday today - is out-of-favour at the Nou Camp, but while Barca would much prefer to sell him permanently, at this stage the Gunners are only looking at a short-term move.

That's because Barcelona value Suarez at more than £20m - money that Arsenal do not have to spend this month unless players head for the Emirates exit.
Suarez may not be the only new arrival at Arsenal this month.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery is determined to land a new defender in order to ease the injury crisis he currently has on his hands.

Speaking on Saturday evening, Emery refused to confirm the Suarez talks but did say: "I think the club is working for the possibility to take some players who can help us during these next four months.

"Maybe the transfer market can help us with a centre-back, but it is not easy because also (Konstantinos) Mavropanos is coming back after injury. Also a winger, right or left, one player can help us in this position."

Another striker Chelsea have been strongly linked with is AC Milan star Gonzalo Higuain.

The Sun report that Higuain is set to join on loan until the end of the season with the option of making the move permanent in the summer.

With the Argentine currently on loan at the San Siro parent club Juventus would have to rubber stamp the switch, however.

It is suggested that Alvaro Morata will go the other away, also on loan.

Also in Italy, Milan could be willing to let Franck Kessie move to the Premier League.

The 24-year-old is being tracked by a number of clubs including Chelsea and Tottenham.

And Calciomercato report that Milan would be willing to sell for around £40m.

Tottenham's Mousa Dembele is being linked with a move away this month, and Beijing Guoan are the latest club to show their interest in the Belgian.

Dembele has returned to training following an ankle ligament injury, but the midfielder's contract runs out in the summer.

And at 31, Dembele believes he is now struggling with the physical demands of the Premier League, which has ignited interest from the Far East according to the Daily Mail.

Mario Balotelli could be set for a surprise return to the Premier League.

The Italian is set to have his contract cancelled at Nice and is expected to join Marseille on a free transfer.

But the Mirror report that Newcastle are also interested in taking him.

Diego Godin appears unlikely to sign a new contract with Atletico Madrid.

Godin's current deal expires in the summer and Marca report that any chance of the 32-year-old renewing his stay is now "slim".

The Uruguayan was the subject of eleventh-hour interest from Manchester United on the final day of the summer transfer window, though their advances failed.

Daniel Sturridge could be offered a new Liverpool contract, according to the Daily Mail.

Sturridge has six months remaining on his existing Anfield deal and can now negotiate a pre-contract arrangement with clubs outside England.

Monaco, Milan, Sevilla and Inter are among those named as a potential suitors, but Liverpool are said to be considering whether to off the 29-year-old renewed terms.

To Arsenal where Aaron Ramsey is said to have agreed his next move.

The Welsh international is out of contract in the summer and with no new deal forthcoming is free to talk to foreign clubs.

One of those is Juventus who, according to reports in Italy, have persuaded Ramsey to sign a pre-contract agreement with them.

He'll join for nothing on July 1 as the likes of Bayern Munich, PSG and Real Madrid miss out.

PSG could well have won the race for Ajax duo Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong.

The Dutch pair are two of the most sought after players in Europe with some of biggest clubs around keen.

But Marca report that the French champions have made an offer that chief rivals Barcelona cannot match as they hope to tie up a deal before the summer.

Burnley could move for West Brom's Matt Phillips this month.

Sean Dyche is looking for additions as he looks to keep the Clarets from the drop.

And the Mirror report that the Scotland international is one of them. Cardiff are also interested.

Watford have no interest in selling Abdoulaye Doucoure this month.

The in-form midfielder is catching the eye this season with Paris Saint-Germain particularly interested.

But the Evening Standard say the 26-year-old is staying put, for now at least.

To Tottenham where Christian Eriksen is said to be stalling on a new contract.

His current deal has another 18 months to run but despite talks he is yet to put pen to paper according to the Evening Standard.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are two of a number of clubs interested in the Danish midfielder.

Tammy Abraham's future appears up in the air.

The Sun report that Wolves have submitted an £18m bid for the England U21 international.

Chelsea remain insistent that there have been no bids.

Abraham could stay at Aston Villa - where he's in fine form - or choose to jump at the chance of Premier League football.

One to watch.

Eric Bailly could leave Manchester United and return to La Liga this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The Ivorian fell out of favour under Jose Mourinho earlier this season and has so far played just once since caretaker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's appointment.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Sevilla are interested in the 24-year-old centre-back even though convincing United to sell would not be easy.

Chelsea have already been busy this month with the signing of Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund but could be about to add a second winger this month.

Calciomercato report that the Blues are preparing an offer for PSV winger Hirving Lozano.

The 23-year-old impressed at the World Cup last summer and is said to be valued around £35m.

Liverpool youngster Rafael Camacho is being linked with a loan move to former club Sporting until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old winger could return to his native Portugal on a temporary basis as Liverpool want him to gain more first-team experience.

However, the Liverpool Echo report that a decision on his future will only be made following the forthcoming FA Cup third round tie with Wolves.

Everton could move for Barcelona outcast Malcom this month.

The Brazilian has found first-team football hard to come by since joining from Bordeaux in the summer.

And, according to Marca, the Toffees could now try and capitalise.
