All of Wednesday's transfer news, done deals and latest rumours

Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus were the talk of the transfer rumour mill this Wednesday as the summer window draws closer.

The futures of Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and PSG’s Kylian Mbappe topped of the agenda while Paul Pogba‘s future continues to appear to be away from Old Trafford.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also shopping for new talent while Leicester City are just trying to keep hold of sought-after stars like James Maddison and Harry Maguire. Review all the day’s transfer news:

Hello! Welcome along to our transfer live blog for another day of mid to low-octane gossip and rumours. And we start in Manchester, where Mailsport reports that United are lining up Frankfurt's Sebastien Haller to replace Romelu Lukaku, should Antonio Conte lure the Belgian to Inter Milan.

Haller, 24, scored 15 Bundesliga goals this season and would be considerably cheaper than the £80m United would want to recoup for Lukaku.

Matthijs de Ligt will make a decision this week (THIS WEEK, according to the Express) on his future, with five clubs vying to persuade the teenager to play for them next season, none of which seem to be Ajax. He's definitely moving, it seems, but where?

Manchester United and Barcelona are thought to be the frontrunners but reports last night suggest Liverpool are now interested and are considering an 11th hour bid. PSG and Juventus are the other two clubs said to be keen to entice the defender.

“I’m very excited for what could be coming in the near future,” he said last week. Cryptic.

CHELSEA NEWS
Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to commit his future to Chelsea, with Bayern Munich turning their attentions to Manchester City's Leroy Sane.
Reports in Spain say Kylian Mbappe has handed in a transfer request at PSG. El Chiringuito claims he has demanded to leave the Paris club, with Real Madrid keen to pounce, although if Real buy every player they have been linked with this summer they are going to be hard pushed getting by FFP next season.
Federico Chiesa has chosen Juventus, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. Juve are yet to agree a deal with Fiorentina but it sounds like the talented 21-year-old midfielder will be playing in Turin next season.
MAN CITY NEWS
Manchester City are leading the race to sign Joao Felix, according to reports in Portugal which say the club have triggered his release clause of £106m.

The Benfica forward is considered one of the most promising young players in the world and has been linked with a host of major clubs including Barcelona and Manchester United, while Real Madrid are said to have had an £80m bid rejected. Is Pep Guardiola going to get his man?

FOUR clubs (!) have enquired about James Maddison already this summer, and the window hasn't even opened.

That's according to the Daily Star, which reports that Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Liverpool all want to sign Leicester's midfield creator.

He joined Leicester from Norwich 12 months ago for £20m, but his status as one of the Premier League's most productive players in terms of chances created has tripled that price tag.

An excellent read on the future of Matthijs de Ligt, by Jack Pitt-Brooke, and why the world's biggest clubs are going to have to pay up.
Is Marcos Alonso heading to Madrid? That seems the most likely destination right now, following his fallout with Maurizio Sarri, although Sarri's departure could yet signal a reprieve for the Spanish full-back.

Bye bye Buffon

Gianluigi Buffon is to leave Paris St Germain following the expiration of his contract.

After 17 seasons with Juventus, the 41-year-old goalkeeper joined PSG on a free transfer last summer, making 25 appearances in all competitions and helping the club retain the domestic title.

On their website PSG hailed Buffon as "the greatest goalkeeper in the history of football".

Buffon said: "Thank you all for everything I have had the opportunity to experience in Paris.

"Thank you for the emotions that we have shared together. Twelve months ago, I arrived at Paris St Germain filled with enthusiasm, welcomed by the incredible warmth of the fans. It was really moving.

"Thank you, once again, from the bottom of my heart. I leave happy to have enjoyed this experience which has undoubtedly helped me to grow.

"Today my adventure outside Italy comes to an end. I would like to thank the chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the whole club and my team-mates. I wish you all the best, convinced that together you will write the pages of a wonderful story.

"Ernest Hemingway wrote that there are only two places in the world where people can live happily: at home and in Paris.

"Today onwards, this will also apply to me: Paris, in some way, will always remain my home. Allez Paris! Thank you and good luck with everything!"
