'Transfer imminent!' - Arsenal fans in meltdown after spotting hint in training

Arsenal fans have taken to social media and are speculating about some possible outgoings.

With just over a month to go until the summer transfer closes, the Gunners are being linked with a double midfield swoop for Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey and Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar.

However, with both players likely to cost at least £45m, the north London outfit will have to raise funds by selling players in order to address Mikel Arteta's midfield concerns.

Two players who could soon be on the move are defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos and midfielder Lucas Torreira.

Sky Sports claim that Napoli are hoping to negotiate a move for the former who appears to be surplus to requirements at the Emirates Stadium following the arrival of Gabriel Magalhaes and the return of William Saliba.

In fact, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed the club working hard to get a deal done.

"We’re working to get Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Arsenal, we’re considering him as an option," he said. "Koulibaly? I’m ready to sell him if some club will submit the right bid.

Meanwhile, Torreira is also being linked with a return to Italy with Fiorentina and Torino keen to sign him on loan with a view to purchase at the end of next season.

But could both their exits be imminent?

Well, some Arsenal fans certainly think so as some eagle-eyed supporters have noticed that neither player was in the training images uploaded by the club on Thursday evening.

As expected, this has prompted some transfer theories on Twitter.

Take a look at what's been said...

Whilst Sokratis has been rather quiet regarding his future, Torreira has recently hinted at leaving the club this summer.

"Today I need to think about my future very well," he told Sport890 at the beginning of August. "I have a contract with the club and I have to respect it, obviously if I have to leave it will be for the best.

"We have to be calm and wait."
