Transfer dilemma for Derby County, Crystal Palace want Aston Villa target - Championship rumours

Dean Holden's Bristol City are preparing for their third game of the season with the visit of League One Northampton to Ashton Gate on Wednesday.

Holden's squad depth is looking strong with competition across the park and the main transfer priority at present is for the group to be trimmed.

The Robins are slightly overloaded in centre midfield, while contract talks rumble on with Famara Diedhiou and Niclas Eliasson, but transfer activity is likely to be minimal this week.

That's not the case for many of the Robins' rivals who are still trying to strengthen and/or have to make sales before they can add to their recruitment.

Here are the latest rumours from across the second tier ...

Swans and Rams target winger

Swansea City and Derby County are both eyeing a move for Monaco attacker Samuel Grandsir.

Wales Online report that the Swans are keen to boost their attacking options after losing Liverpool loanee Rhian Brewster in the summer.

Grandsir could be available on a season-long loan with the option of turning the move permanent next summer. Yet Monaco are said to be keen to see the 24-year-old leave on a permanent deal.

Polish winger on his way to Pride Park

However, Derby's continued interest in Polish forward Kamil Jozwiak could influence whether they choose to sign Grandsir or not.

Polish Football Federation president Zbigniew Boniek claimed earlier this month that Jozwiak would sign for Derby but since then the link has gone cold amid confusion and the Rams interest in Grandsir.

However, Polish daily Wyborcza report that a move to sign the 22-year-old is imminent with Jozwiak having been left out of Lech Poznan's squad on the weekend.

Palace set for Benrahma talks

Sky Sports report that Crystal Palace are interested in signing Said Benraham from Brentford.

The attacker shone in the Championship last season and Brentford are willing to sell provided their valuation of £25m is met.

Benrahma netted 17 goals and provided 10 assists, leading to interest from Chelsea, Arsenal, Leeds, West Ham and Aston Villa.

Palace have already shopped in the Championship in this window, bringing in Eberechi Eze from QPR.

Preston hit back at rumours

Preston have hit back at clubs "attempting to do their bidding through the press and social media".

Daniel Johnson missed Preston’s defeat to Swansea at the weekend after rumours linked him with a move to Rangers. Meanwhile, centre-back Ben Davies has been linked with Bournemouth.

In a statement posted by Peter Risdale, North End said they had grown tired of rumour-mongering and that "no bids for any of our players have been agreed."

Blues take Barcelona player on trial

Birmingham City have taken have taken Barcelona academy product Oriol Soldevila on trial with the 19-year-old joining the club's Under-23 squad.

Attacking midfielder Soldevila started out in the UE Cornella set-up, played for Barca’s Under-18s and Under 19s and then left at the end of last summer.

Birmingham Live report that Blues have taken several players with links to UE Cornalla, including first-team squad member Agus Medina and Ivan Guzman who has been loaned back to the Spanish third-tier side.
