Saint Etienne president Roland Romeyer has given an update on William Saliba's future amid a transfer tug of war between Arsenal and Spurs for the teenage defender.
Saliba had looked to be on the verge of a switch to the Emirates Stadium, until Spurs made a late play for the Frenchman, now his where his future lies looks uncertain.
The 18-year-old established himself in the Saint Etienne team last season, making 16 Ligue 1 appearances. The French club have made it clear that they would want to have the player back on loan for the 2019/20 season as part of any deal.
Saint Etinenne president Romeyer has hinted that a move to the Premier League will happen for the Centre-back, although there was no indication as to his destination.
"The transfer window in England ends on August 8 so yes there will probably be something that will happen," the president told French publication But Football Club .
"William Saliba is contacted by many clubs. We hope that the club and William are happy with what will happen in these days to come."
It is said that the Ligue 1 club are looking for a fee in the region of €30m for the defender.
According to L’Equipe via GFFN , the centre-back would prefer a move to the Gunners after agreeing terms for a contract last week, but Spurs have reportedly entered the race to sign the defender.
However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are apparently in talks with the player’s representatives and confident that they can agree personal terms ahead of a move.
