Tranmere youngsters eyeing cup glory on two fronts, just like Liverpool

An undefeated youth development squad has shown that Liverpool are not the only Merseyside club hoping to lift two cups before the month of May is out.

Tranmere Rovers Under-13s Youth team have reached the final of two tournaments and are on course to complete a remarkable cup double, with the matches played over consecutive Saturdays at Moss Rose, the home of Macclesfield Football Club.

Up first is the Junior Premier League U13 final against Total Futbol on Saturday, May 14 (10am kick-off). The young Whites will then turn out to face BRS Coaching Academy on Saturday, May 21 in the U13 Premier National Pathway final. The U13s side is part of Rovers' Elite Development programme that looks to nurture the stars of the future.

Paul Warwick, father of squad member Zack, said: "They have worked so hard for this moment. It would be nice for the whole Wirral to be behind them and support them to hopefully win both cups. I'm so proud of the team getting through the season undefeated in 25 games."

Tranmere Rovers U13s have managed to score an incredible 153 goals this season and have only conceded 15, breaking records in the Junior Premier League.

Paul added: "The development of the lads has gone from strength to strength. Confidence has also grown massively since last September. None of this would be possible without our amazing coaches and sponsor iservo, who have generously funded the whole team's kits and other things. The kits always looks fantastic and the players all beam with pride when they are presented with it. They have installed so much time and energy into the team to achieve these fantastic results. The team have done amazingly well getting this far, and they are looking forward to giving everything they have to try and win both trophies."

The Junior Premier League is a player development focused league that endeavours to be the world’s best provider of competitive opportunities for progression and advancement in youth football.

The league is now 10 years old and from a small beginning, is now England’s only National league for youth players from U8 to U18 and the largest league in the country with over 25,000 players.
