Tranmere handed home draw in first round of FA Cup

Tranmere will host fellow League One side Wycombe Wanderers in the first round of the FA Cup.

Ties will be played from November 8 to November 11, depending on TV selections. An official date will be announced in due course.

This draw means Micky Mellon’s men will now face Wycombe twice at Prenton Park in the space of a week, with the teams meeting again the following weekend in the league.

The two sides have met a total of 12 times, with the most recent encounter in March 2015.

Tranmere reached the third round of the FA Cup last season, losing 7-0 at home to Premier League giants, Tottenham Hotspur.

Rovers will receive £36,000 in prize winnings should they progress to the next stage of this year’s competition.
