Trams diverted away from city centre stops after skateboard gets stuck on track

Trams were diverted away from Manchester city centre this afternoon when a skateboard got stuck on the track.

Manchester Metrolink warned passengers on social media that trams had been redirected away from main stops on the Airport Line after an 'object' was trapped.

The services from Altrincham were sent via Exchange Square to Victoria.

During the incident, which took about half an hour to resolve, trams didn't stop at Market Street or Shudehill.

A spokesperson at Transport for Greater Manchester said a skateboard had been stuck between a tram and the track.
