Traitors: What is it about? Who is in the cast? Everything you need to know about the Channel 4 spy thriller

Time to get settle down and put on your finest James Bond-style tux, there is a new spy drama in town.

Traitors, which was called Jerusalem when it was first announced, is set in Britain in 1945 with a young woman determined to make her mark in the post-war world.

With an all-star cast, the drama is set to provide some “intensity and emotion” to your Sunday nights, making you doubt everyone around you.

Here is what you need to know…

Lead: Emma Appleton as Feef Symonds (Channel 4)

What is Traitors about?

A young woman named Feef Symonds is determined to put her stamp on the civil service, having joined the ranks just as Clement Attlee’s Labour Party came out on top and knocked Winston Churchill out the power.

But Feef isn’t finding it easy – her family aren’t on her side and she is fighting for approval. The one person in her life, however, who does appreciate her is her American lover. But her lust leaves her with a hefty price to pay after she agrees to spy on the government on behalf of the United States, at a time where tensions with the Soviets were tightening.

Channel 4 teased Feef as a woman “struggling to work out what she stands for and what she is capable of”, hinting that “nothing is what it seems”.

Traitors: The new drama starts tonight on Channel 4 (Channel 4)

Who stars in Traitors?

Clique and Grantchester actress Emma Appleton is our lead girl, Feef, while Bodyguard star Keeley Hawes is her manager, Priscilla Garrick, who is keen to keep her works inline.

Michael Stuhlbarg plays Rowe, Brandon P Bell is Jackson Cole and Stephen Campbell Moore is Philip.

When is it on?

Traitors starts tonight at 9pm on Channel 4. Episodes will be available shortly after on All 4.
