Trainspotting fan faces jail time after ignoring demands to stop blasting Born Slippy on repeat

A Trainspotting fan has been threatened with jail time after blasting the dance anthem Born Slippy on repeat into the early hours of the morning.

Clyde Taylor, 55, repeatedly ignored demands to stop playing The Underworld track at his home in Eccles, despite warnings from officials to keep the music down.

The hit made up the iconic soundtrack to the Trainspotting film, which was adapted from Irvine Welsh's novel, set in Edinburgh during the eighties.

Council officers even seized Mr Taylor's stereo equipment, speakers, television, amplifiers, and electric guitar twice, with a combined value of over £1,500, reports the Manchester Evening News.

However this failed to put a stop the 55-year-old, who replaced the gear each time, before police were forced to intervene after countless complaints from neighbours.

Mr Taylor was summoned to court in October and found guilty of eight breaches of an abatement notice issued under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 in his absence.

He was fined a total of £2,640 for his offences, which was later reduced to £1,500.

The nuisance neighbour has also been hit with an order that prevents him from "permitting music to be played at a level that can be heard outside the property".

Magistrates have also backed Salford Council's application for the first ever criminal behaviour order against statutory noise nuisance in Greater Manchester.

The order lasts five years and magistrates warned him that if he breaches the order he could be arrested and jailed.
