Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh says getting Covid jab 'exactly' like taking cocaine

Trainspotting and Filth author Irvine Welsh has compared getting his Covid jab to snorting cocaine.

Leith born Irvine, 62, who openly admits to having taken lots of drugs in the past and being formerly addicted to heroin.

In a tweet ahead of getting his Covid vaccination he said: ""Drinking a double expresso then getting a Covid test done feels *exactly* like smashing a couple of lines of ching."

Ching is a slang word for cocaine as is base, freebase, Charlie, blow, white, snow, and rocks.

Irvine who told followers to make 2021 the start of the roaring 20’s 'with plenty of totally irresponsible drinking, excessive drug taking and wild shagging' soon received some replies to his controversial comment.

One person said: "When it comes to drugs, NHS is best."

Another joked: "You've been getting short-changed pal!"

While a vaccine sceptic remarked "Ching is safer."

The Trainspotting film has been celebrating its 25th anniversary this week.
