Trainspotting 2 star Bradley Welsh tribute as Hibs and Celtic fans hold minute's applause at Easter Road

Hibs and Celtic fans have held an emotional tribute to the slain Trainspotting star Bradley Welsh.

Fans of both clubs joined together on the 48th minute - marking Bradley Welsh's age - of their Scottish Premiership match at Easter Road on Sunday for a minute's applause in his memory.

Supporters also chanted out "One Bradley Welsh" during the tribute.

Hibees fan Welsh - who was also a charity worker - was shot dead by a "tanned" assassin on his doorstep in Edinburgh's Chester Street on Wednesday evening.

His partner and daughter were just yards away inside their home at the time.

Calls for a tribute first emerged not long after news of Welsh's death were made public.

In a tweet Connaire, wrote: "Think it would be no less than Brad deserves to have a 48th minute applause this Sunday in our match against Celtic with “One Bradley Welsh” ringing around the stands."

An outpouring of tributes also followed after his death, including by Trainspotting author and pal Irvine Welsh.

And the actor's nephew Jake Welsh has shared an emotional tribute along with a reference to Hibee favourite 'Sunshine on Leith' and the caption "RIP Uncle Brad".

Police probing the murder have revealed further details about his killer - who made off along Walker Street after the attack.

Detectives say the man was between 20 and 30-years-old, between 5ft10ins and 6ft tall, with a slim build and a tanned complexion.

He was wearing a baseball cap and was casually dressed.

It’s understood some witnesses told police the suspect was black.

But one eyewitness told the Record they thought the shooter may have been wearing make-up to give him an “Asian appearance” and disguise his identity.

Welsh played gangland kingpin Doyle in T2.

He was a past British ABA Lightweight boxing champion and has run charity projects in the city to help young people stay fit and out of trouble through his Holyrood Boxing Gym.

On Friday evening the gym confirmed on Twitter that the gym will remain open in his honour despite the recent events.

Welsh was also involved with Edinburgh charity Helping Hands which fights inequality in the city.

And in 2009 he appeared on Danny Dyer’s Deadliest Men TV show.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police via 101 and quote incident number 3782 of April 17.

Alternatively, an anonymous report can be made to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
