CHICAGO _ Both CTA and Metra trains were running full early Friday afternoon with Loop workers going home early because of the verdict in the Jason Van Dyke murder case.
"All the trains that left about 1:30 are very full," said Metra spokesman Michael Gillis. "We are seeing an increased demand for service."
He said the commuter rail agency is looking at what trains it could bring in early to accommodate more riders.
Twitter users reported full CTA trains in the early afternoon, ahead of the evening rush hour. CTA officials had no immediate comment.
A jury found Van Dyke, a Chicago police officer, guilty of second degree murder and aggravated battery in the shooting death of teenager Laquan McDonald in 2014.
