Trains in Glasgow disrupted after car strikes level crossing

Train services across Glasgow have been disrupted this afternoon after a car struck the barriers at a level crossing.

The incident happened at Cardross station between Dumbarton and Helensburgh.

As a result, ScotRail confirm that trains are having to run at reduced speed on all lines, with services between between Helensburgh Central and Edinburgh via Airdrie delayed by seven minutes.

Disruption is expected to last until around 15:00 today.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called to Cardross level crossing at 12.38pm today (05/10) as a vehicle collided with the crossing’s barrier, causing the barrier to obstruct the road."
