Trains disrupted after woman found on railway track

A woman has been taken to hospital with a leg injury after being found on train tracks in Weston-super-Mare.

Police and ambulance crews were called at 5.50am on July 17 to Weston Milton station after reports of a person on the line.

A woman had suffered a leg injury and received medical treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital.

Her injuries are described as ‘non life threatening’.

The incident caused disruption to early-morning train services to and from Exeter St Davids on the Paddington Line. Some services were cancelled.

All lines were opened at around 7am.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

What British Transport Police have said

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "Shortly after 5.50am today, officers were called to Weston Milton station after reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Officers and paramedics attended and a woman was taken to hospital for treatment to a leg injury.

"Her condition is not described as life threatening.

"This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious."
