Trains between Stockport and Altrincham stopped due to flooding

Heavy rain is causing rail disruption today.

Network Rail has announced that no were trains are able to run between Stockport and Altrincham due to 'flooding' around midday.

The network said this part of the line had now reopened, however, travellers are still facing significant delays.

Disruption is expected to last a few hours on trains between Chester and Manchester Piccadilly.

Northern Rail said on their website: "Following heavy rain flooding the railway between Stockport and Altrincham the line has now reopened.

"Train services running through these stations will be delayed by up to 30 minutes."

Northern Rail tickets are being accepted on other services at this time.
