Trains between Perth and Edinburgh via Fife cancelled after person hit by a train

Rail services between Perth and Fife have stopped after a person was struck by a train.

The incident happened between Perth Railway Station and Ladybank Railway Station at around 3.30pm on Friday, February 28.

The line was closed shortly afterwards, and services between Perth and Edinburgh via Fife have been cancelled.

On social media, a spokesperson for ScotRail said: “Sadly, a person has been struck by a train between Perth and Ladybank.

“All services on the Perth to Edinburgh route have been suspended for the moment.”

Rail disruption on the line is expected until at least 6.30pm this evening.

Commuters travelling between Fife and Perth are being advised to go via Dundee Railway Station, and ScotRail has said their tickets will be accepted on these services.

Those wanting to travel between Perth and Edinburgh are also being encouraged to go via Stirling Railway Station.
