Person tragically dies after being hit by train in West Lothian

A person has tragically died after being hit by a train in West Lothian.

Emergency services were called to the line at Fauldhouse after reports of the incident at 1.36pm this afternoon.

Paramedics attended the scene, but the person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

The line between Shotts and Livingston South had been closed with Scotrail putting replacement bus services in place while disruption is ongoing.

A statement on the force's website said: "Shortly after 1.30pm today, officers were called to the Fauldhouse area following a report of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service attended however a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

"This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a report will be made for the Procurator Fiscal. "

First Buses and Lothian Buses will be accepting tickets that have been affected.
