Trains between Glasgow and Ayr cancelled after 'incident' on rail line

A number of trains between Glasgow and Ayrshire are cancelled due to an 'incident' on the line between Irvine and Lochwinnoch.

Trains to Ayr, Ardrossan and Largs have been cancelled after an 'incident' on the line near to Dalry.

Emergency services are currently at the scene.

Replacement busses are being sourced and trains are being either cancelled or delayed.

The nature of the incident is currently unclear.

Scotrail wrote: "The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Irvine and Lochwinnoch. Services between:

• Glasgow Central/Ayr

• Glasgow Central/Largs

• Glasgow Central/Ardrossan Harbour will be cancelled, delayed or revised."

"Services between Glasgow and Wemyss Bay/Gourock are not affected.

" We have arranged for rail tickets to be accepted on local bus routes as follows: With Stagecoach West buses between Glasgow Central, Ayr, Ardrossan and Largs."

British Transport Police have been contacted for comment.
