Training for elected women representatives

The National Commission for Women (NCW), in association with the Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA), is conducting a three-day capacity building training for elected women representatives.

Five such sessions are scheduled at different centres of KILA across the State. The session at KILA-CHRD, Kottarakara, started on Tuesday. The training will conclude on April 7. NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma will be present.

The training includes sessions on leadership, communication skills, gender, women empowerment, and gender and law. The sessions will be handled by management faculty and gender experts. Women representatives of block panchayats in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta are participating in the first batch. During the training, the participants will visit Kerala Women’s Commission and Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation in Thiruvananthapuram.

KILA director general Joy Elamon and KILA-CHRD director D. Sudha will lead the programme. Amruthraj R.M., specialist in women’s studies, KILA, is the course director.
