Hugo Palmer reports star filly Powerful Breeze to be recovering steadily from a freak accident she endured whilst warming up for the season.
The 2019 May Hill Stakes winner broke some ribs in a fall on Newmarket's training grounds in February, after she was spooked by a car.
The nasty incident is expected to keep her out of action until the autumn, during a campaign in which she was a leading fancy for the 1000 Guineas.
Last season she was beaten just a head by Quadrilateral in the Group One Fillies' Mile.
"It's frustrating but it could have been worse," said Palmer.
"She threw her rider, slipped over and landed on a stirrup iron, which broke her ribs.
"She has been in her box receiving treatment since and has been a very good patient.
"Over the winter she had done really well so we were looking forward to this season. It will probably be the end of July or August before she is ready to get going on the track.
"In the next few weeks I'd hope she will start doing some gentle exercise.
"We are just taking it one step at a time."
Palmer hopes to enjoy an earlier start to the season with Powerful Breeze's aptly-named stablemate Lockdown, once UK restrictions have eased and racing can resume.
A decision from the British Horseracing Authroity regarding the sport's immediate future is expected shortly.
Lockdown, a two-year-old owned by Qatar Racing, is a half-brother to two-time winner Fuente.
"It's early days and we are pleased to be learning about him," said the trainer.
"He's appropriately named for the times. I hope he will be able to run in June."
