Train services suspended after injured person found on railway track at Cheadle Hulme station

Train services are blocked at Cheadle Hulme train station after an injured person was discovered on the railway track.

Police and the ambulance service were called to the station, on Station Road, just before 10am on Thursday morning.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said a casualty was discovered on the track.

Emergency services remain at the scene.

Train services on Transport for Wales, Northern, Avanti West Coast and CrossCountry travelling through the station have been suspended.

It is affecting trains on routes between Manchester Piccadilly and Wilmslow, Stockport and Stoke-on-Trent as well as between Stockport and Stafford.

Some train services may be diverted through Styal.

A spokesman for British Transport Police: "We were called at 9.55am to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Cheadle Hulme.

"We are still on the scene. Paramedics are also at the scene."

A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We have attended an incident at the station.

"We sent one rapid response vehicle."
