Train lines closed after person hit by train near East Midlands Parkway

A person has been hit by a train near East Midlands Parkway.

East Midlands Railway announced its services have been disrupted after the incident, which has taken place between East Midlands Parkway and Derby station on Thursday, April 15.

Lines have been closed between the two stations as a result of the incident - it's not yet known when they're expected to reopen.

Emergency services are on their way to the scene.

A spokesperson for East Midlands Railway (EMR) said: "We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train.

"This has occurred between East Midlands Parkway and Derby is disrupting our trains on the London St Pancras/ Sheffield and Matlock/ Derby/ Newark routes.

"At present emergency services are en-route to manage the incident. They are expected to arrive shortly."

EMR says there will be delays to its services as a result, as trains running in both directions are unable to run.

The company is looking for "alternative arrangements" for its customers.
