The train line through Deansgate was blocked this morning while emergency services dealt with a 'ticket dispute'.
British Transport Police officers were called to the incident at Deansgate station in Manchester city centre just after 9am (Monday).
There had been a report of a 'ticket dispute', a BTP spokesperson said.
Officers spoke with the passenger and the 'situation was resolved'.
The line through Deansgate was fully blocked for around an hour because of the dispute.
In a tweet posted at 9.25am, Northern Rail said all services through the station had been cancelled or delayed while the emergency services dealt with the incident.
At around 10.45am, Northern said the line had reopened.
"Services are no longer affected by this problem", a tweet added.
In a statement, a BTP spokesperson said: "Officers attended Deansgate station at 9am following a report of a ticket dispute.
"Officers spoke with a passenger and the situation was quickly resolved."
