Train line between Lisburn and Belfast closed due to 'tragic incident'

Translink have confirmed part of the NI Railways line has been closed this afternoon.

Services between Lisburn and Belfast have been cancelled and the line is currently closed following a 'tragic incident'.

A spokesperson for Translink said: "Due to a tragic incident between Lisburn and Belfast the line is closed. Bus subs have being ordered.

"In the meantime train tickets will be accepted on Metro and Ulsterbus services for this route."

The line was reopened on Thursday afternoon and Translink thanked customers for their patience.

A spokesperson said: "Northern Ireland Railways would like to thank passengers for their patience and understanding, after a tragic incident closed the Belfast to Lisburn line this afternoon."
