Train disruption around Glasgow this weekend as Scotrail plan repairs

Passengers travelling on Scotrail services this Sunday (April 28) should expect some disruption, as track renewals take place in the Rutherglen area.

Three different routes departing from and arriving at Glasgow Central will be affected by the changes, while further routes will be entirely replaced by bus services.

Glasgow Central to Lanark services will operate hourly using the Cathcart Circle and will not stop at Cambuslang. Meanwhile an hourly bus replacement service will also be in operation, calling at all stations on the normal route.

Services from Glasgow Central to Newton will also be extended to operate to and from Larkhall and Motherwell, with each destination running an hourly schedule. Meanwhile, Edinburgh via Shotts will run between Carfin and Edinburgh. A bus replacement service will make up the rest of the journey from Carfin to Glasgow Central.

Replacement buses will also be operating between Bridgeton and Motherwell, via both Whifflet and Hamilton, while Glasgow Central to Motherwell will also operate a bus replacement service.

Finally, trains which run via Glasgow Central Low Level will operate between Rutherglen and Balloch or Milngavie only.
