Train commuter wears a lizard on his head!

From a pair of pint glasses and a straw to a model snowman, modern hat designers have certainly come up with some innovative ideas.

But very few of us will ever have witnessed a hat with a live animal perched on it.

Unbelievably, that was the scenario for commuters who boarded a tram in Manchester city centre on Monday evening.

The Manchester Evening News reported that instead of passing their journey towards Eccles with a paper, social media or chatting to friends, passengers were left spellbound by a large lizard, reports MEN .

And in a fine display of observing Metrolink etiquette, the reptile did not even take a seat - instead it was perched on the head of a man presumed to be its owner.

But Manchester commuters are a pretty resilient bunch, who it seems are also not easily impressed.

And those with seats on the packed tram were certainly not moving for anything less than a snarling lion.

Russ Booth tweeted: "Just a bloke with a live lizard on his head on the Metrolink.

"Welcome to Manchester."

Mr Booth later said: "It was around 5.54pm and I noticed a bit of commotion around me.

"A group of girls leapt out of their seats and were hiding near the doors."

"There were loads of people taking pictures and laughing but the guy seemed totally oblivious.

"Nobody seemed overly concerned."
