Train attack leaves man in hospital as cops hunt teenage gang on board Glasgow service

A man has been left injured in hospital after being seriously assaulted onboard a train by a gang of teenagers.

The victim was attacked on the service between Glasgow Queen Street and Garrowhill stations at around 11.45am on Friday.

Paramedics and cops raced to the scene where they found the injured traveller who remains under the care of doctors at a local hospital.

British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses to help trace the three young men who are believed to have been involved.

Officers say the trio were wearing black face coverings while one was reportedly wearing a balaclava.

A force spokesperson said: “Detectives are urgently appealing for witnesses following a serious assault on-board a train between Glasgow Queen Street and Garrowhill stations today (15 October).

“The report was made at 11.47am and officers were deployed to the train. Paramedics also attended, and one person was taken to a local hospital where he remains.

“Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone with information to assist their enquiries.

“They are particularly keen to identify and speak to three boys who were on-board the service.

“They are described as white, 13–15 years old, all wearing black face coverings and jogging bottoms.

“One is reported to have been wearing a black balaclava. It is believed they departed the train at Bellgrove station.

“Witnesses or anyone with information can contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 50 quoting reference 240 of 15/10/21.”
