A large reason why Marvel films continue to be loved by fans and continue to dominate the box office is that they constantly draw from different genres and styles.
The same can already be said about their TV shows because while WandaVision was a trippy hybrid of classic sitcom and sci-fi with nods to David Lynch and The Twilight Zone, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier balanced buddy-cop action with current geopolitical concerns.
Well, Hawkeye is the next Marvel show on Disney + and as you can see in the trailer, they're embracing some classic Christmas films with the action of Die Hard, the one-liners of Lethal Weapon and the slapstick of Home Alone.
The new series is set in post-blip New York City as former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas.
Is this possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a superhero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.
Hawkeye will star Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop.
The show also features Vera Farmiga, Irish actor Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez.
Helmed by Rhys Thomas and directing duo Bert and Bertie, Hawkeye debuts exclusively on Disney+ on November 24, 2021.
