Trailer for 'disgusting' Titanic movie sequel branded 'sick and selfish'

No one thought Titanic needed a sequel. Turns out there are two.

After the submersible tragedy last month where five people died when an expedition to the Titanic wreckage, memes and tweets popped up joking that James Cameron should be writing the sequel to his Oscar-winning movie Titanic.

Turns out he doesn't have to, as there are already Titanic sequels with the latest being released in 2022 (Titanic 666). Titanic II and Titanic 666 are unrelated to the original 1997 film but the two sequels are both produced by David Michael Latt and The Asylum.

Titanic II, released in 2010, is about a replica of the Titanic setting off 100 years after its first voyage. Yes, an iceberg is featured but the tsunami is new.

Titanic 666, which was branded "disgusting" upon its release sets sail 110 years after the original ship. The ship hosts original artefacts from the maiden voyage and it seems that one stowaway on the ship is not a fan of that.

"You thought you could steal these from their final resting place?" The stowaway says to a man who responds: "I preserved them so their memories can live on."

The stowaway takes the artefacts and seems to conduct a seance on board, leading to paranormal events and zombies on board.

A lot of people have taken to the internet to share their distaste for the movie

In the comments for the YouTube trailer, many refer to so-called "bad acting" but mostly people says the movie and its streaming service, Tubi, "disrespects" the 1912 tragedy.

The film is being slammed by commenters on its trailer posted on YouTube (Tubi/Youtube)

"This film is disgusting on so many levels and shame on you, Tubi, for creating such trash!" one wrote.

Some even referred to the recent submersible tragedy, with one comment calling the movie "sick and selfish" and said "how we see nothing but memes mocking the lost lives of the imploded sub".

But some took movie in jest and commented: "As long as it's historically accurate, it should definitely be worth watching."

The only historical accuracy the film seems to have is that Titanic 666 was released on 15 April 2022, the 110th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

Everyone knows the original Titanic movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. The Best Picture Winner is an acclaimed film that was the highest-grossing film of all time until it was beaten by Cameron's other movie, Avatar, in 2009.
