Tragic young boxer's mum makes heartbreaking plea not to take pictures at his grave

The family of a popular young boxer from Falkirk who died suddenly earlier this year is pleading with people not to post pictures of his grave on social media.

Scott Martin, also known as Scotty Bhoy, passed away on New Year's Day at the age of 16 and just days before his 17th birthday.

His mum, Samantha Redding, 41, has posted a heartbreaking appeal on Facebook.

In it she said: "I can’t actually believe am having to post this but I’ll say it nicely to begin with.

"As we prepare to have Scott's headstone put in place can I please ask anyone who visits Scott NOT to take pictures of his resting place and post them on ANY social media platform - Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat.

"PLEASE be mindful and understanding that this is a private and personal place and a somewhat hard place for us still to see.

"Some of my family members are finding it hard enough to visit never mind seeing it when they log into places or on peoples stories and am meaning his little brother mainly it’s causing a lot of distress and my boys are dealing with enough.

"Scotts place isn’t to be used for likes or whatever he means so much more than that to so many people.

"I know people grieve in different ways and it’s a different world we live in now but this is not how I want my son remembered so please respect my wishes.

"Go up spend time with him but please DO NOT take pictures to post.

"Anyone who has already done this I would ask that you remove it & remember Scott as he was. Take photos from my page...god knows there’s plenty!"

Scott was also a talented top youth footballer who played for teams including Falkirk, Partick Thistle and Hearts.

A foundation to help others has been set up in his legacy.

It's hoped 'The Scott Martin Foundation' will help raise awareness about mental health and suicide amongst young people.

His sudden death has left those who loved him heartbroken and they now want to encourage others who are struggling to speak out and get help.
