Tragic Rhys Bonner's friends and neighbours set up crowdfund to help grieving family

Friends and neighbours of have set up a Just Giving page to help the tragic teen's family.

Celtic fan Rhys vanished from the Balarnark area of Glasgow on July 24.

The 19-year-old's disappearance sparked a major police search as frantic family and friends launched a social media campaign to bring him home.

On August 8, police confirmed that a body had been found in marsh ground between Easterhouse and Gartloch Village and that had been informed.

Devastated loved ones have rallied round to create a Just Giving page to help Rhys' grieving family.

A message on the page reads: "Weʼre raising £2,000 to help our neighbours and close friends, the Bonner family, to help with financial costs after the devastating loss of Rhys

"As a community we have tried to help our friends the Bonners through this very difficult and heartbreaking time.

"Please donate, every little bit will help enormously.

"Thank you."

Leighanne McGuiness commented: "Rest in Peace wee pal.

"Thinking of all the family."

Touching tributes have been paid to the 19-year-old from Glasgow (Facebook)

Catherin Rochford : "So sad, gone to soon.

"Prayers and thoughts for all his family and friends."

Speaking after officers discovered the body, a Police Scotland representative confirmed: "Around midday on August 8 officers found the body of a man in marsh ground between Easterhouse and Gartloch Village.

"The family of Rhys Bonner, 19, who had been reported missing from the Barlarnark area, has been informed.

"A post-mortem will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death, which is unexplained at this time."
