Tributes have been pouring in for a Rangers fan who tragically passed away in his sleep on Monday.

In an emotional post on Facebook , devastated girlfriend Jennifer wrote: "My baby, My life, My world, My soul, My best friend, My absolute everything.. and your gone.

"I will never get over this. I don't know how to. I will never forget about you and I will always love you, forever and a day baby.

"See u on the other side.. you had best be there waiting for me."

William had been undertaking his third round of cancer treatment at the Beatson just a week earlier.

Rangers fans are now being urged to hold their own tribute at the club's next game.

Fan account The Blue Sea of Ibrox posted on Facebook: "Can we get a minutes applause at 32 mins in the Motherwell match on Sunday please".

In response to the call, Jennifer thanked the fans for their "lovely words", adding: "Amazing how the Rangers family comes together at times like this.

"My big bear will be looking down and feeling the love so thank you all."
