Tragic New Year's Eve death after dad collapses on Lake District walk with wife and son

A man has collapsed and died while on a New Year's Eve walk in on of England's renowned beauty spots with his wife and son.

The family of three were in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria walking the ridge to Ullock Pike, near Keswick, when the man suddenly collapsed on Friday (December 31).

Immediately, his son performed CPR while emergency services were being alerted, reports LancsLive.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team (MRT), Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) and Cumbria Police were all in attendance with 20 team members involved in the incident.

At around 1:36pm, GNAAS helimed 58 landed close to the casualty and were followed shortly after by Keswick MRT.

Sadly, the medical teams could not save theman, despite their best efforts.

He has not yet been identified publicly.

A spokesperson for Keswick Mountain Rescue Team said: "A husband, wife, and son were walking the ridge to Ullock Pike when the husband suddenly collapsed.

"CPR was immediately provided by the son and emergency services alerted.

"GNAAS helimed 58 landed close to the casualty and were followed shortly after by Keswick MRT.

"Sadly, despite the best efforts of the medical team the man could not be saved.

"Our thoughts and sympathies are with the man’s family and friends."
