Tragic murder victim Joe Deacy's organs saved six people's lives, heartbroken family reveal

A tragic young murder victim's organs saved six lives, his heartbroken family have revealed.

GAA fan Joe Deacy, 21, from St Albans in the UK, was brutally attacked while on holiday in Co Mayo two years ago.

He was found with serious head injuries outside a house in Swinford on August 12 2017 and died the next day in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

Despite an intensive ongoing garda investigation, nobody has ever been charged with his murder.

Now his grieving family have told how the young man's organs were donated to six people in desperate need of lifesaving transplants.

Joe's heart was donated to a man in his 60s, each of his lungs were given two other men in their 60s and a woman in her 50s received his liver.

Meanwhile, a man and a woman both in their 30s, each received one of his kidneys.

Joe's grieving mum Alison told how proud she was that her son's organs helped people in need.

She told The Irish Sun: "The fact that his organs have saved six people have kept me going.

"It's a strange feeling but I will always be proud of my boy".

Joe's sister Charlotte spoke of her grief as she and her mother attended a special mass for for families of organ donors at Corpus Christi Church in Dublin.

She begged any one who might have information about Joe's death to come forward.

"There are people in the community, even if not directly involved in Joseph's murder - who are befriending the persons whom we are and the Garda believe do know what happened that night and they have chosen to remain silent.

"To these people I would say: When justice is eventually served, would you be satisfied with your own conscience?

"I don't know how they can go about their daily business with such a dark secret to keep. When they sleep at night do they see my brother and do they hear his screams?

"My brother deserves justice and we won't stop fighting for him".

Stacey Solomon admits she’s 'selfish' for not wanting to donate her organs
