Tragic GAA coach Damian O'Raw to be laid to rest in Kildare tomorrow

A tragic Irishman who passed away after going missing last week will be laid to rest on Monday.

Damian O'Raw, 51, from Dublin, went missing on June 30 and was last seen in the Kilmuckbridge area of Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford.

Tragically, gardai confirmed his body had been found on July 3.

Mr O'Raw was an underage GAA coach with Moorefield GAA in Newbridge in Kildare where he lived.

The club shared a poignant tribute to him on their Facebook page, writing: "We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Damian O'Raw.

"Damian was a great clubman who devoted countless hours to our underage teams over the past few years.

"Our thoughts are with Damian's family and friends at this difficult time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam."

The club added they would be cancelling a training session on Saturday as a mark of respect.

A death notice on RIP.ie reads: "Damian will be missed always and forever by his loving wife and soulmate Muire, precious daughters Holly and Saoirse whom he adores."

Mr O'Raw is survived by his father Larry, mother Phil, sisters Fiona, Lorraine, Colette, brother Derek, his mother-in-law Florence, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours, work colleagues, relatives, and many friends.

A wake will take this evening at Anderson & Leahy's Funeral Home, Newbridge from 5pm until 7pm with prayers at 6pm.

The family home will be strictly private on Sunday.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11.30am on Monday in the Church of the Holy Spirit, Greenhills, Dublin 12 followed by burial in St. Conleth's Cemetery, Newbridge, Co. Kildare.
