'Tragic': Dr Hilary Jones slams large number of people who say they won't have coronavirus vaccine

Dr Hilary Jones spoke of his disbelief on Good Morning Britain after a poll of more than 31,500 people found 43% would not have the coronavirus vaccine.

Hosts Ben Sheppard and Charlotte Hawkins were involved in a panel on GMB on December 10 putting viewers concerns and questions doctors and scientists about the coronavirus vaccine after two NHS nurses had an allergic reaction to the Pfizer BioNTech jab.

After the panel, the show revealed the results of a poll the producers asked earlier on Twitter which was 'Will you take the vaccine as soon as you're eligible?', answered by more than 31,000 people.

However, Dr Hilary Jones was stunned and branded the poll 'tragic' after hearing 43% said they wouldn't:

"That's a tragic result.", said Dr Hilary, shaking his head:

"I can't believe how misinformed some people must be!

"This vaccine, by enlarge, is very safe, it gives good efficacy, it protects everyone in society, not just the people having it.

"It's been researched by the most regulated industry in the world and it's been passed by the MHRA who's standards are better than any international standard you could compare it to.

"So, I hope that figure does change because we need a higher vaccination rate than that."

Later on Lorraine, Dr Hilary said: "I do believe that will change by the time more people have the vaccine."

Good Morning Britain returns from 6am every weekday morning on ITV.
