Tragic death on Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street after young man falls from scaffolding

A young man has sadly lost his life after falling from scaffolding in the centre of Glasgow.

Police raced to Sauchiehall Street around 5.50pm on Friday September 18 after the alarm was raised.

Paramedics were also in attendance, but the 23-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service vehicles were seen on the street near to the Beresford Lounge complex, with scaffolding sealing the section off at the junction to Garnet Street.

Officers do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

A report is to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called around 5.50pm on Friday, 18 September, 2020, following the report that a man had fallen from scaffolding on Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended and a 23-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"There does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
